Great Italian wine and food

Rome's wine cellars are the inspiration behind 1889 Enoteca.

Located in the Taylor-Heaslop building (circa 1889) in Woolloongabba, 1889 Enoteca has combined a restaurant, wine bar, wine store and cellar.

1889 Enoteca combine the best fresh produce, knowledge and passion for an overall experience.

I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. Our kids took my Wife and I there for mothers day this year and the handmade Gnocci I had was second to none. Better than I have had in italy. We were seated in their wine cellar room. The ambience was excellent, waiters were very knowledgeable about the menu and (extensive) wine list. Although it was not one of the cheaper restaurants in Brisbane it was one of the best & well worth the dollars. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who likes Italian food.

In Italian, ‘enoteca’ refers to a wine shop where you can eat – and so it is with this downstairs cellar dining room in an area that is fast becoming one of the precincts to eat in Brisbane. Chef Craig McCabe brings refined European style to the menu, while wine aficionados are turning up as much for the eclectic collection of Italian varietals as the food. There are great cheeses, too, and don’t leave without trying the quince soufflé.
