ATavola combines traditional Italian cooking with a modern approach to food presentation and dining. Diners can sit a large communal table and enjoy fresh pastas from a daily blackboard menu. Delectable, fresh ingredients include buffalo mozzarella, proscuttio, parmigiano and vine ripened tomatoes.

Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Fairly pricy though, so be prepared for a chunky bill.

This would have to be one of the most Authentic Italian experiences I have had out of Italy, from the Italian speaking waiters to the strips of handmade parpadelle hung around the openings of the kitchen...the aromas, the ambience, the food and the wine is bellissimo!
What I love about this place is that is has a very basic standard menu and then all dishes are created by the chefs on the day depending on what is selected at the markets in the morning, which is oh so Italian!
The staff not only give detailed descriptions of dishes, what they contain and how they are prepared; but they also give great suggestions of which of the many Italian wines they have on the menu will suit your dish of choice.
I am still salivating over the rag di carne di maiale, but I guarantee any dish you select will be stupefacente!

What a delight to be welcomed to the table. Fresh and delicate pasta - the gnocchi has a texture unlike any other. An extensive wine list to complement the crafted delights. On the night - service was from two French waiters who were exceptional. I havent been this well looked after anywhere in Sydney before. I trust next time the food, wine and service will be just as consistent.

Wonderful, rich Italian food, sophisticated atmosphere and really great service. I didn't think A Tavola would live up to the hype but it did. I had octopus gnocci for main and some kind weird but wonderful banana meringue dessert - both were incredible. Really great place to catch up with friends or go on a date.

A Tavola serves excellent fresh pasta, the papadelle was light and beautifully made. We sat in the courtyard, an 8.30 booking on a Saturday night. A number of our choices were no longer available which was dispppointing given the short menu. The very large and rowdy party table nearby made it very noisy and not as intimate as I'd hoped for. Will go back again, next time at the front of the restaurant and earlier in the night to see if it can live up to its reputation.

We went to A Tavola for my partners birthday and were thoroughly impressed with the food, the service and atmosphere. This was one of the best italian dining experiences for both of us. The menu, food and flavours are simple and uncomplicated.
The waitstaff knew their stuff, professional and were able to recommend the right italian wine to perfectly match our meal.
    I thoroughly recommend A Tavola :-)

The first few times I went to A Tavola, it felt really special. Beautiful food, wonderful service (in fact, the waitress was probably the nicest waitress in the whole world). I still think of the passionfruit jelly and lime sorbet dessert I had, which came with toasty coconut foam on top. Bliss!
Their house-made focaccia bread with chilli oil is just dreamy too.
The last time I went, the waiter we had was a little frosty and I thought $35 was a little steep for pasta with four mushrooms on top. But I'd like to think that was an anomaly and I'd definitely be back.
It reminds me of Otto but without the pricier menu or celebspotting (a plus or minus, depending on your feelings about dining with mildly famous people around).

  • A Tavola

With its communal table and simple menu, a relaxed restaurant recreates the feel of Italy's osterias.

The focaccia is so soft and light I'd rest my weary head upon it, my nostrils filled with the scents of chilli and fennel seeds, rosemary and garlic. A Tavola is one of the loveliest, sexiest Italian eateries I've encountered in a city already spoilt for choice. On a busy street, chef-owner Eugenio Maiale gives reason to pause for house-made pasta and the timeless pleasure of unfussy Italian dishes. The complimentary bread is pulled from a copper pan and sliced as you sit down. It's accompanied by a terracotta saucer filled with chilli-infused olive oil. Such small details give A Tavola (meaning "to the table") its warmth. This is soul food in a setting that has a similarly nurturing effect. How else can you explain the beauty of a glistening bowl of sauteed swiss brown and portobello mushrooms and green peas ($15) in white wine, rosemary and peppery virgin olive oil, then enhanced by whole mint leaves? Salted ricotta - sweet-then-salty and silken textured - wilts over the ...

Chic and full of a cool after- work crowd, A Tavola invites you to sit at their 10-metre long marble table in the glam yet squeezy space for an Italian feast. Go the green peas with salty ricotta and as Chef Eugenio Maiale is a maestro with pasta, it’s best to take their word on one of the fabulous daily specials from the blackboard. Trendy new sister bar Omerta has just opened opposite stealing some of the delicious nibbles ideas to have with drinks while waiting for a table here.
