Tried to obtain a quote & was advised that whilst they don't quote they would give an indicative figure. Took details etc & provided a quote.
On the day they turned up late, then brought a truck two small which resulted in two trips needed. charged for the additional kms & all the additional time. we moved a 3 br house without much gear (2 people, no kids) & this took them almost 8 hours. which cost approx $1600.
Items broken & not advised, 1 chair, marks in walls & floors, hit color-bond fence.
In addition to all of this only the driver could speak English & was rude all the time, so no help.
It was the most frustrating & expensive day.
Do not on any circumstance use these.

My move with AAA City Removalist was smooth and efficient. Their price quote was reasonable since we didn't have far to go and were only moving selected items. the movers were very careful with the furniture as requested and were courteous and friendly.
They arrived early and had a list with them so there was no confusion about what needed moving.
They had a clear plan of action and stuck to it.
I would not hesitate in recommending AAA City Removalist to friends and family

Would like to say a massive "thanks", from start to finish, the whole move experience was brilliant. Initially we contacted AAA City Removalist for a quotation, we were not only pleased with the quote, but the customer service was second to none. On the day of the move, the crew turned up on time, smart and extremely polite and friendly. I have some mirrored glass furniture, which i was concerned would be damaged, straight away, this was wrapped in a highly professional manner, very impressive! the crew worked really hard to get the job finished on time. The same happened on delivery, all went smoothly. Well done AAA City Removalist! Amazing service from start to finish. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a removal company.

Upon contacting AAA City Removalist for a removal quote, which was the best price about. On moving day the guys arrived on time, provided me with extra wrapping film to secure the breakables, As i was heavily pregnant , i just told them what to take and they did so. At the new house everything was put into the rooms i wanted them into and no breakages either. My experience with this company was nothing under 5 stars, pleasant and smooth move which we all know is a stressful time, so thanks guys.

Had AAA City Removalist to move us and as well as being the friendliest, they were also the best on price. Very professional, all the guys were polite and friendly and made us feel at ease, the packing service was particularly good and nothing at all was misplaced lost or broken with everything going exactly where it belonged at the other end, we have had bad experiences in the past with other companies but i have to say these guys are a pleasure to have move you.

had to register a user name to post this thread. Be aware of this removalist. the experience was horrible. 2 persons came on time but only 1 is removing. the other stand on the truck all the time doing some unknown stuff. walking very slowing, driving at the speed of 30K per hour. very horrible experience. do not go with them.

I had a good experience with this company. My son was a removalist so I know they sometimes can "go slow" but that was not our experience with this company, the 2 gentlemen just kept on going, methodically and carefully. They were respectful and polite, and very very careful with our furniture. The move took a little longer than we expected, due to stairs and building height but I felt they earnt every cent of it. Its a horrible job that most of us would rather not ever do, but this company was professional from start to finish and I was very happy with them.

Horrible! I had hired this company to move the contents of a 2 br apartment from a street-level garage to a single storey house (easy access). They spent the entire time suggesting schemes, and then spending time standing idle trying to convince me why I should go ahead with them. For example, I had requested 2 men and a truck. They turn up with 3 men. I said to them that i only wanted 2 men thank you very much. They stood around trying to convince me that i should have 3 men to 'speed up' the job. I said no thanks. They then spent 10-15 minutes talking on the phone to try and find another job for the third guy -- time that I was paying for. They then suggest that they would like to 'wrap' my furniture at a cost of $100 for every 2 items. I said to them that this did not make sense. I was already paying for just under $100 an hour, so what was the additional cost for? they said 'it's for bubble wrap'. I asked : 'what if i supply the bubble wrap?' they said : 'no we can only use our own', then they suggested that they could do me a favour. I refused all wrapping proposals. They then get on the phone to the company and spend about 20 minutes (again time that I was paying for). Fourty five minutes later from the minute they arrived, the loading of my stuff on the truck begins. Each item required a debate on where it should go, it took 3 and a half hours to load the contents of my 2 bd apartment. They then asked us to drive ahead of them so we can have the door open and ready. The destination was 20 km away, on a weekend, no traffic. We got there in 25 minutes and assumed it would take them no more than 45 minutes. They turned up 1 hour and 15 minutes later.
They then proceeded to very very slowly unloading our furniture. We got angry and were helping them. We were bypassing them. Upon lifting my bed-side table, i noticed that it was broken (it's made of glass). They denied that it was their doing. After 3 hours of unloading, there was one small cupboard frame (a cupboard without the door, back or shelves) and 3 tea cartons (with clothes). The removalist who had been doing all the 'negotiations' then stops working and starts doing paperwork. This goes on for 15 minutes. Since the one inside the truck passing everything to the second guy, all the activities ceased while we were waiting for them to finish the paperwork. I ask them what they were doing and advise them that usually paperwork is done after the move is finished and not charged . They then come up with another proposal: 'How about I stop the clock now and only charge you for 9 and a half hours?' Nine and a half hours to move the contents of 2 br apartment 20 km? are you kidding me? Even if I had agreed to pay for the time that they spent standing around talking, it would still mean that it was going to take them 1 and a half hours to unload the cupboard shell and the 3 tea cartons? They then refuse to unload my cupboard , until i had called the office and paid for 'at least 9 hours'. I made a mistake, i did pay. Recovered my cupboard and only paid them what was fair which is maybe 3 or 4 hours minus the cost of the bed side table that they damaged.

    Never use this company!

I would have given no stars but would only accept review with something.
We used AAA City Removalists for 2 moves which both resulted in horrible service and care, especially the 2nd move.

For the 1st move, they arrived an hour late and when they realised they couldn't make their second job slowed down horribly, extending the move from an estimated 6 hours to 9 hours. We rang 3 times to confirm we had a big enough truck and in the end the truck wasn't big enough to carry all our stuff and we had to go back the next day and do 4 more loads in an SUV. We agreed on extra insurance for our televisions (bubble wrapped) and when we got to the storage shed we discussed leaving the bubble wrap on for the next move. This is where we made the biggest mistake, because we should have insisted the bubble wrap be removed. We acknowledge this was our stupid mistake but again the service should have been to insist to be fully insured.

2nd move, we discussed the insurance of televsions again and verbally advised it would be covered. This move went from an estimated 3-4 hours to 6 hours and ALL our furniture arrived to our new place with chips, scratches, leg removed from dining table and you guessed it, one tv smashed that no longer works. When we went to finalise payments (+ insurance) they had lost the book with all the information and we stupidly paid without any paperwork. So again, we are not at fault in this fiasco and should have been more confrontational with the treatment of our stuff and ourselves. Expensive lesson to learn.

We have made 6 verbal and 3 written complaints to be told that they didn't do anything wrong. Never use this company!

100 percent satisfied and more. We hired AAA City Removalist to pack our stuff and then move us into our new house. The service provided was nothing short of excellent with no problems and no stress at all. On the move day they turned up on time. Once at our new house they put everything where we wanted. I am not sure how big they are or since when they have been on the market, but their service certainly is a very good one. We moved before which we thought was good, but this time it was excellent. Thank you.

I had to move over the weekend from a semi to an apartment. Ronnie and his co-worker in truck 11 were amazing and worked like Trojans. They worked quickly and efficiently, bringing my move from Maroubra to Lane Cove packed up and moved in within 4hrs. They also had to squeeze my 3 seater leather lounge up 4 flights of stairs and through a small emergency stairwell doorway without any fuss or complaining and didnt give up, even when it wasnt looking good. Hats off to them big thanks guys, you made my day and my move a smooth one. Cheers, Lisa

All seemed okay leading up to my move in date, but we weren't that happy with the movers or the move experience itself. Here is the issue: AAA subcontracts to different companies sometimes. We ended up with staff and vehicle from a completely different removalist company conducting our move! Ask about this beforehand. One of the guys had one month experience as a removalist. As a result it took forever and cost more. Generally unfriendly people from the subcontracted company. I'm sure AAA is great, but unfortunately during our move we didn't meet any of their employees!

Very disappointing experience with this company. I used them to move in 2008 and they were excellent, my recent move in Feb 2013 was completely different. The removalists were extremely slow, it took 6 hours to move my 1br apartment (resulting in an expensive move). Pieces of my furniture were also damaged. My friend moved on the same day as me (I had referred her to the company) she was also extremely disappointed with the level of service and cost. We have lodged several complaints and have not heard back. I would not recommend them to any friends or family looking to move.

    Beware AAA City Removalist.

This was the worst moving experience we've ever had. It started badly when they were arrived over half an hour late without excuse or apology. They were rude from the very beginning ignoring the most basic requests. They were careless with the furniture dragging items instead of lifting. They would disappear to the truck for long periods and, when tracked down and asked what they were doing, would simply shrug in reply.

We were forced to call their head office during the move to complain and told they could and would do nothing.

We were also forced to carry many items ourselves to get the job finished.

Stay away from AAA City Removalist.

The day we moved was one that was extremely challenging as it was incredibly hot, and I had a lot of things to move. Not only did the 3 AAA City Removalist men move all of my possessions in a timely and careful way, they did it all without complaint and a wonderful attitude and were so courteous, polite and helpful at all times, even after 10 hours of hard work. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I have had experience with other removal companies that made me feel intimidated to ask them anything, and this was such a different experience, so I just wanted to thank them, and let them know how appreciative I was of their work, and it certainly helped the move to be a lot less stressful. I will certainly be recommending this company (and those 3 men in particular) if anyone I know needs some cheerful, helpful, competent and kind removalists!

I used AAA City Removalist for my move from Liverpool to Reverina. i recieved more that 20 calls but it was their staffs professionalism that gained my attention. the quote was fair price-wise but the reviews i read had me a little spooked. if it was not for the communication factor between the staffs and myself i would have probably skipped over them. I was not disappointed with them at all. they were on time, the guys worked hard and the price was only 2500 bucks over my quote. I chalk that up to the special packing, there were free offers though. the fee 2000 bucks was well worth the move and i have no complaints and would use them again if needed.

I couldn't be more happier on the removal service by aaacityremovalist the customer service team was excellent from the time I enquired about their service, quote etc. they looked after everything for me, didnt need to worry too much. I'd personally like to thank George for looking after my move and making sure i got through it without any problems. The Removalists were professional and i felt comfortable the way they handled my stuff, especially my antiques. I believe they did their work on time and pleased with the overall relocation service. thanks AAA, Tom Hilly

We used AAA for move from Sydney to Wagga. They quoted us $2653.10. They ended up charging $8690 (I don't think their quotes are related to reality). It took 5 men 7 1/2 hours to pack a three bedroom house into their 2 largest trucks. It then took them 9 hours to drive each way (normally a 5 hour drive). There were numerous times that they gave us wrong information which ended up costing us $1000s. E.g., how long it would take for a truck to arrive, that we needed to pay to have a tree next to our driveway cut down, what size truck we would need.
When I complained the management said that the removalists were entitled to stop for rest breaks whenever they wanted for how ever long they wanted and the customer had to pay for these. Note: they are the only removalists company I know of that has it's own Complaints Department, which tells me a lot. They were very polite and professional before we booked them, but quickly turned into ignoring us after we complained. They also use sub-contractors which I think is important to know but not made clear beforehand.

I Had a simple request for AAA to pick up from Western Sydney and deliver 3-4 suburbs away. I had organised for people to be waiting at the destination all day for the delivery. I was notified at 04:00pm that day that the truck wasn't able to make the pickup. This company is deplorable, their customer service is disgusting, their business ethic is non-existent. I would urge anyone considering using this company to think again. There are plenty of other companies out there to move freight, use any of them bar this one. If I had read these reviews before booking I would have gone with another company, it seems they have upset quite a number of people. Companies like this should not be in business.

Pretty sure we're talking about the same one. I remind you of the definition of logistics being the right product in the right place at the right in the right condition. Didn't happen. If a company can't hit a 4 hour delivery window then yes, I stand by my earlier submission. Don't forget the other negative reviews suggesting I'm not the only one that has had a bad experience.

I wish I had read these reviews before using this company. I had a horrible experience with AAA City Removalist. Was extremely offensive and spent more time smoking cigarettes (in the back of the truck with my bed and couch) than moving furniture. I'm just happy I had my flatmate, girlfriend and sister there to help me move or I would have ended up being more overcharged than I already was. The removalists arrived 20 minutes late, charged me for half an hour after they had left and charged me a fuel levy for driving more than 20 kms between places (google maps tells me it's 7.1)
Moral of the story - don't use them

In general when using a removal company always obtain a fixed cost price and have a signed agreement to same, check their public liability and accidental damage policy !!!!!

Couldn't finish earlier comment as a keyboard malfunction submitted before finishing message. I hired AAA to move from Epping to Carlingford. The movers came couple of minutes late and got my signature as if they were on time. They always try to talk things around with you during the conversation (unnecessary things like why moving etc) and wasted time. Doesn't let me cut short time either. Finally I told them I need to save time. Very slow packing. Very inexperienced, takes ages to just find the way that a single seat sofa would pass through a door! They rolled and dragged the cupboard on the road and sand got stuck on the wheels and at the destination there is a wooden floor and they did not care to think or not slide it on the wooden floor. So now I am having a huge scratch mark on my brand new wooden floor. extremely careless. This happened even after I have told them that it would happen.

My personal experience was great. Got a truck that was big enough for the job ('Incredible Hulk' truck for large 2 bedroom apartment PLUS extra stop for 3 x large LED panels, French Door Fridge, big Dryer. Filled 30 boxes - 15 large/15 small). Got an extra man to speed things up. If you don't get the extra man it will take them longer and cost you more. We were 3rd floor with lift and they used that well. I also helped the guys. No broken items and they did their job competently. I'd use them again. No reason not to. I used to work in furniture removals business 15 years ago and I know most people underestimate how many cubic feet/square metres of stuff they have. Do yourself a favour, go bigger than you think and get the extra man. Much quicker. If they are on their mobile the whole time like someone noted on here then tell them to get moving!! It's YOUR $$$. Why would you put up with that?? 4 and a half stars.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Whilst the presales experience was very good, the actual service in moving was terrible. Even though we had taken great pains to inform the company of the nature of the house we were moving from and to,and the nature of our items to be shifted, including very heavy items, the movers who turned up (late) complained about the steps involved, constantly complained about the items being shifted and refused to shift the heavy items that had been previously identified.

To be fair, tow of the staff were good, the third staff let the whole team down, constantly complaining, talking on phone for extended periods, and constantly holding the other two staff back. In my opinion they were also disrespectful of our possessions and negligent in the way they moved the furniture, damaging and dropping several items.

They did not finish the job, in the end the service was so bad that we terminated the contract and asked them to leave. The complaints process has also be unsatisfactory with no satisfaction forthcoming from the organisation.

Made me pay in full only 30 minutes into the job.
Would not give me a receipt for payment until I signed his handwritten note stating, "nothing is problem."

    1. Do not take up the wrapping service as it takes them time to wrap the furniture. Felt worried that they will not take care if I do not take up that service.
    2. 3 man team is a sham if they don't know how to utilise the extra man.
    3. charged 5% fuel levy for over 20km distance. when I checked later, the distance was only 10km. when I contacted the company, I was told they checked with the driver and they did 2 trips - for a measly $85 more.
    4. Paid $1880 for a 10 hour move -

I read the previous reviews and hesitated to book a move with this company but it's rates were the best that I could find and after calling a few other companies I thought id just give them a go. This is the first time I have ever moved so I didnt know what to expect but I would rate this companies service a 10 out of 10. I was quite anxious with the thought of them handling my stuff but they had a friendly and humorous attitude so that eased my nerves. Overall I am really happy and I will use this company again. I REALLY wish i'd read this page before booking. They were super fast to call me, quote and book, but that's where everything went downhill. Took 8 hours to move a 3 bedroom house to another house (no stairs, straight load in and out) where everything was packed. VERY slow and one of them hardly left the truck.
They broke a 100+ year old dining table and an antique wardrobe. When I called the company to complain (after they eagerly took my $1000) they said i would receive an email with a complaint form and I have not heard from them.
    Would not recommend.

Just shocking... 3 men turned up, one who was a fitter & turner by trade and was roped in by the other 2 because I was told that 3 men would be faster than 2. One, the apparent foreman, did nothing except talk on the phone the entire day while the other 2 struggled with the furniture. It took 12 hours to move a 2 bedroom CBD apartment & some boxes at a small storage bay to the new house in Pyrmont. Many pieces of (antique) furniture were damaged and scratched even after charging us an absolute fortune for bubble wrap. The move cost nearly $1,800 but that's nothing compared to the irreparable damage to the furniture.

Any scepticism I had after reading some of the reviews were crushed after my move yesterday with AAA. Sam and his companion arrived on time with a KING KONG truck and went straight to work. Boxes were quickly removed leaving a large amount of furniture to be tackled (4 bedroom home, including 2 kids rooms). It had been pre-arranged with George (manager) that my goods were all going into storage with AAA. Sam went about painstakingly wrapping each item in bubble wrap and then shrink wrap, sealing each piece of furniture in its own cocoon. It was a long day and it did take longer than originally planned, however I was happy to pay, after watching how each piece of furniture was dealt with. Thank you for a great move and as soon as I am ready to come out of AAA storage there is no question that I will be using you.

Puntucality, Quality, Professionalism makes them outstand from the rest in the Business. With some extra cost, you get all your furntiure bubble and cling wrapped and insured and you dont have to worry of it getting damaged.

I would strongly recommend their services for anyone looking for shifting their homes or interstate relocation.

If you're lucky enough - or just plain smart enough - to be looking at this review page before you commence your move with this company, I strongly recommend you find a different company to help you move. It took 3 removalists with minimal communcation skills 6 hours to move half of a 2 bedroom apartment with easy access at both ends of the job - I was charged for 8 hours in the end, just to top off an overall terrible experience. The removalists and management (not that I was ever allowed to speak with management before being forced to sign off on the job) were very rude, overcharged for the actual slow service and provided an overall very dishonest service - even though the call centre seems to contradict this. Our goods were treated poorly and removalists are not professionally trained - it was obvious by the way they couldn't organise the packing of the truck and by the way they stood around talking and taking prsonal calls throughout the job. They also handled our items unsafely and dumped electrical goods on concrete surfaces quite heavily which means I will have to claim on insurance - more hassle and stress! We have requested formal proof of the training the removalists allegedly receive amongst other things and have had no response from management - nor expect too from reading reviews below. If I was to have my time again, I would do the move myself and owe friends and family the favour and my hard earned honest cash. I have moved many, many, many times in the past and this is by far my worst experience. I should have the option to give a negative star rating here rather than give a half-star rating!

I have never written a review or complained about any company before, but felt I had to do SOMETHING as AAA did NOTHING!

Not only were the removalists extremely slow, they were dishonest people I have ever come across. They convinced me to have my grandmothers china cabinet bubble wrapped to protect it, so I did. They unwrapped it and placed it facing a corner of the room. Which later I realised was because 2 out of 3 glass panels were completely damaged. This would of been quite obvious when they unwrapped it but they chose not to tell me. They even had a discussion with me about it, and when I said all I was worried about was the cabinet they asked if it was OK, and from the way it was positioned it did look OK.
I was then made to sign off on the job and pay downstairs at the truck and regrettably didn't come back up and check everything properly.

I sent a complaint to management, as I thought they would want to know about the dishonesty of their employees (which I now realise are subcontracted). I never got a reply.
So 2 weeks later I phoned and spoke to the manager and was assured that it would be investigated and I would hear back from him the next day. I never did. So I gave it another couple of weeks and called again. I was told the manager was in a meeting and he would call back that afternoon, he never did. So I gave it another couple of weeks with still no answer. So my father made another phone call and explained the situation again and that I wasn't looking for compensation (although reimbursement of the bubble wrapping would of been nice since everything that was wrapped was damaged) as I accepted I had signed off on it but I wanted it investigated and a response from management. This time I did get a response. I got an email with no apology just a cut and paste of the contract saying I had signed off so they accept no responsibility.

Obviously they missed the point. I was complaining about the dishonesty and unprofessionalism I was shown.

I will never use this company again, not necessarily because of the damage, but because of the complete disrespect from the management in the way my complaint was handled and the dishonesty of the removalists.

The WORST and slowest service I have ever experienced. I booked 3 guys at $130 per hour to do a move from Elizabeth Bay to Bondi.

Firstly they asked if I wanted to have my products wrapped the the bargain price of $400, I told them no thanks only to be informed "well don't blame us if things get damaged" it took 3 guys to pack the truck up in just over three hours for a one bedroom. I left them to met them at the new address after waiting over an hour I called the driver only to be informed by the driver that the truck had broken down with not ETA on when they would arrive. I rang the office to find out what they would be doing - they had not even been told by the driver of the situation. Biut they would stop the clock, Almost 2 hours later they arrived at my new address due to the time factor my partner helped them bring our belongings up and it only took 1 hour and a half.... Even with a further distance to deliver to the apartment. In despite of one of the movers standing around talking to his mate on the phone on where they were going that night among other things , and the other man was more interested in how the payment would be made cash/credit card as if it was credit card they would not be paid that day.

If I were you I would steer clear of this company.....I WILL BE LETTING ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME .....

I had two blokes turn up an hour late, that had an older truck (no problems), but it didn't have a lift, which meant they worked very slowly. It took them over 4 hours to empty a storage shed, which I filled *myself* in under 3 hours. They didn't answer their phone, so I called the storage shed company and they said they'd been taking many breaks, stopping for a chat etc. Of course, they are on the clock while this is happening.

Anyway, 5.5 hours after they started they show up after I'd called the company and complained. They drove past my house at just after the 4.5 hour mark, so no idea where they went for that hour - probably lunch. When they did turn up, I almost had a punch up (I was annoyed after they disappeared and they were upset that I'd called the company). they then threatened to not unload the truck unless we paid cash then and there. Which had me threatening to call the company again. Eventually they calmed down enough to get the truck unloaded (I had them to dump everything in the carport, which took 20 minutes with me helping and not letting them stop). I then went to the storage shed to give back the keys and found 2 car loads of items that they'd left behind. Seriously unprofessional.

This was a sour experience, I've moved my house 5 times and know very well how long it takes for 2 men. The experience cost me about $300 more than I expected and I still had to move the stuff into the house and finish moving items they left behind - so much for doing it the easy way. The company really should stop using sub contractors.

We hired 3 staffs. 2 were great and the 3rd which is not our favourite. We were due to start at 9am, but they called at 8:30 saying they had arrived. Turns out they were at the wrong address and showed up about 5 til 9, but they wanted to bill us from a start time of 8:30. Best we could get was 8:45. Then for 15 minutes the they tried to sell us moving insurance" when they were on the clock. They finished 5 minutes over the 30 half over, so of course we got charged for that extra half hour. Which means we really paid for about an extra hour in total. Our things arrived in one piece, so I wouldn't say they are the worst removalists--but I would try to find someone who might be a bit more honest.

We had a small move from Woolloomooloo to Surry Hills, and they were awesome, quick, handled all the contents with care, and were fun to work with. We helped them out with some light boxes to speed up the process and in turn save some $$$.
Arrival was on time and their quote over the phone was about right. I'd definitely use AAA again.

They were beyond apalling. I have never seen two staff walk so slowly (when they weren't actually carrying anything) and stop working so they could carry on their conversations without interruption. They were SO slow that my husband and I ended up moving most of the bigger items (sofas, desks) onto the front lawn to try to speed them up a bit, only to find them sitting in the truck drinking a cup of tea with their feet up on our furniture!!!

They then seemed particularly put out when we asked them to come and get the fridge next, so I joked that perhaps WE should move that for them too, but as they didn't speak much English and didn't pick up on my tone (dripping with sarcasm and disgust) they looked at each other, discussed the matter and said yes!!!
They obviously didn't understand that the bright red "fragile" stickers meant that they had to be careful with the glassware and crockey boxes and thumped these down the stairs - so we had quite a few breakages. We foolishly let them move the dishwasher themselves, which they managed to wheel off the path, topple off the trolley and crash into the gate, leaving a dent in the top of it.
It was like watching Fawlty Towers, things just kept going wrong!

They took almost an hour to travel the 20 minute trip to our new place, and insisted on following us, rather than looking the address up themselves. When we got there, despite my having previously explained the difficult access several times to the company on the phone, they refused to drive up the driveway and wanted to wheel everything 15 houses along the private driveway to our front door. They were incredibly rude about it. One of them called the management to complain loudly, while the other one asked me why we'd even bought the house, told me what he'd paid for his house and that we should've moved out there instead... All the while charging us their hourly rate!!!
It wasn't until my husband phoned the company and demanded to speak to the manager, that they started to behave more appropriately.

This was a stressful occasion made MUCH worse by two careless, lazy, rude staff. We would've been better off (mentally and financially) getting our own truck driving license and driving the truck ourselves! Do yourself a favour and find professionals for your move.

None of my furniture was ruined, everything was in perfect order, they were a lot less expensive then other companies. They arrived on time, they were fast & friendly. I would definitely recommend this company to everyone.

I booked AAA City removalists for 28th April 2012 for moving my home (with very little furniture) and that was the mistake of my life. The guys were very slow workers and finished two hours job in 4 hours. They also tried to overcharge by adding half an hour to the actual time. When I objected and showed them the time, they said that they will not finish the job unless I pay them. They were wasting the time in this argument and tried to include that time in billing. They were behaving like extortionists.
Dealing with them was a nightmare.
I'll never recommend AAA to anyone and will never take any services from them.

what a horrible experience from beginning to end. The guys arrived ontime (thats what the half star is for) one of them barely said hello before stinking out our toilet, the other virtually worked solo for about half hour.

I dont know if they had ever done removals before, when i asked them they rekon they had been doing it for years, but honestly it was like watching a lourel and hardy routine being performed with your personal possesions. when i looked in the back of the truck at how my furniture was stacked, i swear to you, it looked like it had just been involved in a rollover. although everything had a minor scuff or scratch only two glass shelves and a mirror smashed, i am suprised any of it survived , lucky I only moved two streets away.

they sold themselves as being cheap but when i got the bill, there were all of these extra fees. they charged me for shrink wrap, i must of moved 10 times with the bigger companies and never once seen them pull out shrink wrap to start wrapping a fridge, and then they tell me bluntly that if I dont let them wrap it I am not insured. i dont know how that makes sense, i was lead to believe that a removalist company cant insure your goods, the customer needs to take out their own policy which has nothing to do with the removalist. thank god i took out insurance or i would be stuffed and it wasnt cheap, but take my word for it, if you book them you are going to need it. try these guys www.removalsinsurance.com.au.

when i was handed the bill per hour, with the extra fees, i should have hired the big guns, the price was about the same. I havent taken it up with aaa and most likely wont, I blame myself for being sucked in by their words. They are not trained removalists and they're not cheap, I will never never (never infinity) use them again. If you care about your gear, better to use a proper removalist.

I've moved a lot of times and my experiences have always varied from just OK to dire.
Using AAA City Removalists has been great!

Both customer service, and the movers were fantastic.

They were all fast, careful, friendly, honest and extremely professional! The movers even pulled apart the bed frame (as it couldn't fit through the doors) and remade it for us in record time!

Thanks for making our move so easy and stress free! If I ever have to move again, I would definitely use you guys again :-)

The removalist had a great attitude towards our difficult access. I was so pleased with the removalist and would not he sitate to use or recommed AAA. Thanks for a stress free move.

I normally do not complain about average or poor service but this was terrible. I have a laundry list of complaints below against AAA City Removalist and the subcontractors which they hire to perform each job.
    - Booked to start at 7.30 didn't turn up until 8.10 at which time one of the staff went to get coffee until 8.30.
    - Took 3hrs to pack a small 2 bedroom unit into the truck. In the past, the same amount of furniture and boxes (including the beds which were not moved this time) took 1.5 hours for 2 staff to load. Both properties had the same amount of stairs.
    - Door frame broken when moving furniture. Did not inform us it was broken, found the part from the frame by the staircase.
    - Took 2hrs 15mins to drive to Sydney from Wollongong when it takes 1hr 15mins in a car that was fully packed.
    - The staff moving our furniture and boxes were very slow often taking 10-15 minutes between loads up or down stairs. I would think removalists should be used to carrying things up and down stairs and have the stamina to do this quickly.
    - With 2 females helping for 20-30 minutes half the truck was unloaded. We were often overtaking them whilst unloading stuff.
    - One of them was on the phone for about 20 minutes whilst moving which made them go slower. It often appeared as though only one staff was moving stuff at any time as only 1 was bringing stuff up.
    - One of them was walking ridiculously slow between loads.
    - The wrapping of furniture was $25 per item when other removalists cost $10 per item.
    - Forgot to unload the TV which was sitting in the cab of the truck. Only when prompted did they take it out of the truck.
    - Found chips on my bookshelves and bedside table and some items were left out in the rain to keep doors open.
    - After confirming the booking on Friday morning at 9.40am I was contacted at 7.30pm on Friday night to confirm again.
    - Was reluctant to listen to my complaints on the day, as I needed to leave I had to sign the invoice without resolution.
    - Forwarded my complaints to them and they denied each and every complaint.

Bitterly disappointed on so many levels, firstly they arrived at 3:15 p.m, 15 mins late and wanted to bill as if they arrived on time, next, took 5 hours to load a truck from a small 2 bedroom apartment, of which most of it was boxed and already downstairs in the garage ready to pick up & go. In between the move, was informed that will not be able to fit everything in the 6 tonne truck till they then realised it HAD to be done. In the end it took 8 hours (of which we helped for 2 hours of it), left us with boxes turned upside down, wet and over charged for bubble wrap, (with prices that seemed to be plucked from the air) - not impressed. Approached management, the second time (first was to complain, received a minor refund) - awesome customer service.
P.S I will not be using you again and as you know word spreads.

We used AAA City for Moving, Packing & Boxes. The move went well and management went above and beyond in assisting us in getting our boxes returned. Even though we'd failed to read the fine print - We negotiated a deal that 1. AAA City was well within their rights not to do & 2. Worked out to be extremely reasonable for both us and them. Thanks for everything. Will use again.

Used AAA City Removalist for my move from Gosford and Artarmon to Meadowbank. It started off well with the staff being polite and gracious and running through with me the cost involved. Multiple e-mails and phone communications stated that there are to be no additional charges besides a 5% fuel levy plus the time taken from the start of the move till the last item is moved into the new place. Knowing very well, that the move is from the Central Coast, I repeatedly asked if there are any extra surcharges to which none was stated. After paying the deposit, I noticed on the quotation slip provided indicated a return surcharge. I called up to enquire what the return surcharge is and I was asked where I'm moving to and I said Meadowbank. The staff on the phone said that if it's Sydney metro, they usually only charge 1/2 hour extra to return the truck to their base in Greenacre. I accepted my mistake because I didn't see the surcharge on the quotation slip before I paid the deposit.

A couple of days before the move, they called to confirm the move and this time the staff said that the return surcharge is basically the total time travelled. I wasn't happy about this because I said that this wasn't what the previous 2 staff have said. The response I got was that this is how it's always been and if I'm okay with it. Considering I had no time to find a new removalist, I just said that I've got no choice here do I? A written e-mail to complain was returned with a call from the Management who told me that it's already written in the quotation slip. I told them that I admit it was my mistake not noticing it before paying the deposit but from the e-mail trail I provided, this was not mentioned at the very least. They agreed that it's not stated there but it was to be expected as all removalists have the return surcharge. I told them that I wasn't too happy about it but there's nothing I can do about it now so just go ahead with the move. They said that they will provide a bigger truck so that the move can be done quicker.

On the day of the move, the staff came 30 minutes early which was fine with me. Upon speaking with them, they said that it would be better/faster with 3 staff instead of 2 and it would be better for us if we paid for wrapping the fragile stuff like the glass table top, sofa, portable air-cond etc as if we don't, they aren't liable for any damage to it. While I didn't want to spend the extra money on getting a 3rd staff and wrapping the products, they kept on saying that 3 staff would be much faster and that would save us time and it'd be much safer if we took the wrapping option as they do not guarantee the safety of the items if we don't. While it was totally our decision to go for the 3 staff and the wrapping, I didn't like the way that this option was "presented" to us. It felt to me that they were implying that if we only go for 2 staff that they'd do the work slowly and if we didn't want the wrapping that they would handle them with due care.

Anyway, the move itself was simple as we didn't have too much stuff. It took about 8 hours in total and everything was in good shape. In the end, we paid so much more than we earlier budgetted due to the issues mentioned above. All I can say is that for my next move, I will not go for them anymore.

I generally don't review whether service is good or bad - this is my first time using true-local, and I am only driven to do so based on an experience with AAA City Removalist that I would say is my worst experience as a customer/consumer yet.

In the middle of December we booked AAA City Removalist for an 11am start, we were told that 11am doesn't guarantee an exact start time as it depends on the job prior - and were fine with this, given that the gateway given was 11-3 for the job, so we assumed at most the drivers may arrive at 1 or 2.. Not at all the case. We sat around waiting from 11am until 2:30pm before we even received a call to say the truck was running late and they'd contact us as soon as it was leaving the earlier job: Fine. no worries. we sat around waiting, waiting, waiting.. until a 3:45pm we rang the office to be told that they had tried to call my mobile (which ALWAYS had reception and received numerous other calls from concerned friends and family during the period - i have call waiting too - no reason it should not have gone thru....) I accepted the fact and gave them benefit of the doubt asking if they had left a voice mail as my phone goes straight to voicemail whether off, no reception etc.. "yes! we would have left a voicemail we will call you when another truck becomes available" I was told - at this point giving my husbands mobile phone number also. NO voicemail was left on my phone, we continued to wait............ at 4:45 we get a call saying a job has finished or is about to be finished close by and that the drivers will call us within half an hour when on way..... great! 5pm moving - not exactly acceptable given the 11am booking but ok no worries. 5:45pm still no call, try to call the office: office shut! we wait more, 7:15PM we get a call from a driver saying he's fourty five minutes away and can be there at 8PM - 8PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't care whether the company thinks 8PM is an acceptable moving time or not - SERIOUSLY. we didn't book for a night time move! We had to flatly deny this option as we live in a unit block, with quite a walk to the street and did not like the idea of moving in the dark let alone keeping our elderly neighbours up doing so.. disrespectful! when i told them this they argued with me , saying its a perfectly acceptable time to move - and that the neighbours can't say a thing: I DONT CARE IF THEY CAN SAY A THING - ITS CALLED RESPECT, clearly what AAA City are lacking........ long story short: eventually they call us midday on sunday, to say they can be there in an hour, at which point we had struggled all morning with loads from friends and fam' moving all boxes and what knot ourselves..... we accepted only because we needed our big things moved, and let me tell you - the removalists did not even appear to know what they were doing. We only had a few items to move, they were dragged, complained about, because the removalists were "exhausted...such a big mission!" my husband and his brother moved the lounge UP the stairs when we moved in - would a removalist not be better equipped with higher stamina to do so ? anyway... our TV which we did not even get moved, was dragged.... when we finally set off on our trip to the new place 20 min away, the removalist following us, we we warned they would need to drive slow - being in a big truck: fine. Slow was an exaggeration! it took about 35 minutes to get to the destination with the driver going between 20-35km an hour on a 70km main rd.... us pulling over 24.7 to wait!

Our experience includes so many more frustrations in the moment than this however, i just wanted to warn others who may be going to move, that this company don't have any understanding for the frustrations and difficulties that come with moving. They work to their own schedule and appear to pump out so many moves in one day that they have trouble keeping up with their bookings, and in turn don't mind letting the occasional customer down....

i'm sure others have had great experiences with this company, but is the possibility of a REALLY bad experience worth it - i would say not.

Next time i'll definitely be willing to pay a little more to get a reliable removalist as having everything in boxes and being told todays the day only to have to unpack your bedding and "find" your clothes/belongings for an extra night in your old home is no fun. Moves are hard at the best of times.

It's a shame that a good deed goes unnoticed. the magic of words can paint the picture it desires.
      1. We did call your phone and there was no facility to leave a message.
      2. You are in Mona Vale. No person in their right mind would drive to the end Sydney on a Saturday without making sure the customer was there.
      3. It was just before Christmas, we apologise for running late but unlike most other companies, we still did attend.
      4. We rescheduled it for you for Sunday at a discounted rate. Whether the guys were slow or not, you were not paying any extra.
      5. Again i apologise for running late, but we did make a very fair attempt to do the right thing.

You didn't give us a discount rate at all. We were only after 2 staff, and you said you would send 3 for the same price, pity we didn't need 3, and also that the third was pretty much yelled at by the other 2 to keep out of the way. The third staff dragged our TV, the third staff not being there may have been more productive.

We made a booking for 11-3 in Mona Vale for that day, why would we not be there? Impossible that there was no answering machine! You even told us you left a message, yet now you say "no answering machine"

I don't want to argue and go in circles as i said i'm sure some have had a great experience for you - sadly we didn't! and i'm just telling our story, so that others aren't in the small portion who have to experience such a horrible moving weekend.

I hope noone else has to go thru that.

I appreciate not all the teams they send out are bad. Every company has bad employees but this one seems to have plenty of them and they really need to do something about them if they want to uphold they (at the moment very bad) reputation.

The management of this company is so bad. During the booking process, the friendly sales staff informed me that it would be fine to keep their free boxes for a total of 5 weeks, however, once the boxes had been collected I was then told I could not have my $150 deposit back as apparently I should only kept them for 4 weeks. The management of the company phoned me and i was told that the sales staff never agreed to giving me an extension. They offered me $30 out of my $150 deposit back as a goodwill gesture, what a joke!!! What was an otherwise good experience was very much spoiled at the end. Be warned!!!!
    • aaacityl Newbie
On the confirmation emailed to all customers, it clearly outlines that boxes must be returned within 4 weeks. I gave Luke $30 as a goodwill gesture not because we did anything wrong but because we tried to appease an upset customer that had clearly not followed our agreement.
