Tried phoning this place altogether a dozen times on several different occasions to make a booking with no luck and their website is extremely out of date so you can't view the menu.
After seeing these reviews, very glad I didn't go.

I would like to say this is a first i have ever complained but i strongly urge you not to attend this establishment! I Brought a voucher for this restaurant for me and my partner because we wanted to try from supposively one of the best restaurants and I have nothing to say about the food as we could not get an appointment after months trying to call during the right times and emailing with only one response then nothing finally after complaining twice about not being able to get in contact to book I received an email asking for proof of contact so I sent the email and then got a rude response back "it's not our problem" so I went there to speak to the management and let them no they had someone very rude working for them thinking this was a mis comunication and would be fixed straight up but I didn't even get that far before I was told they had better things to do then talk to me unless I was making a booking and with what I came in wearing (a dress with sandals) and that was the least of it "goodluck getting your money back before the voucher expires" I have never been spoken to so disgustingly for no reason and would rather forfit my voucher then eat at an establishment that is run buy such people no matter how good the food as and definitally not 5 star!

I decided to have my birthday here and absolutely loved everything about the restaurant. The service was great as the waiters made sure my night was very special. The food was delicious and the overall atmosphere made my birthday an amazing night.

After all the negative reviews i wasn't holding much hope i bought a coupon on spreets & jump on it, we went for a degustation & the food & flavour was great and worth trying. the drink prices are expensive but that is to compensate for the deals they do. DO NOT GO & EXPECT A MASSIVE MEAL THAT IS NOT WHAT A DEGUSTATION IS! but please go & give absinthe a try. The only problem we had was trying to make the booking.

Went with a scoopon deal for degustation. After reading all the bad review didn't have my hopes up. But to be honest I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. You can tell the management has seen some of these reviews and started making amends. The three waiters we dealt with were nice and made sure we were taken care of. The food was great and the flavours worked well with the matched wines. Only reason for the half star off was because it was troublesome to make a booking. And waited a while for a bill, However it was worth the wait.

This is the worst customer service I have experienced for a long time. It is no wonder this restaurant is resorting to advertising cheap deals as in this economic climate it is the businesses with no idea about how to treat customers that will hurt the most.

We went for a 6 course gourmet menu, turned out to be a taster menu, the smallest portions you ever saw. After 1 1/2 hours we had only had 3 courses so we left and went to a local take away. Total rip off, over priced and false advertising.
I would never recomend this place. Go to the Italian near by, looks much more appetising.

Would not recommend this overpriced restaurant to anyone! The meals were tiny and expensive and very ordinary. Expecting a unique dining experience but it was NOTING like advertised.

The worst meal I have ever had slow cooked fish comes out raw first time and half the size the second time, steak was like eating a piece off wood.Order a bottle of wine, wine arrives at table already open so what is inside your guess is as good as mine certainly was not Pinot. The staff was asked to remove the fish as my wife would not eat it still appeared on bill question the manager and the plate was clean when I saw was the reply.I see reveiws from 2 years ago may be good then but not know STAY AWAY I have had better meals under a tarp in the middle of asia.

  • Absynthe Restaurant

    Ultimate Gold Coast

    Thursday, August 05, 2010

In the restaurant caper, Michelin stars are not handed out lightly yet Absynthe head chef, Frenchman Meyjitte Boughenout, had earned two by the age of 25. Via Belgium, Sydney and Tasmania, Meyjitte arrived on the Gold Coast where he quickly won a reputation for the way he creatively combined fine ingredients (such as truffles) and fresh produce to create dishes to savour. Degustation nights feature a seven-course menu of the chef’s favourites, plus a few of his surfers paradise experiments. Far from cheap, but a luxurious dining experience with stylish red and ochre décor.

    Ultimate Brisbane

Absynthe is one of the Gold Coast’s finest dining venues. Owner and chef, Meyjitte Boughenout, with two Michelin stars earned through his time at some of Europe’s best establishments, presents a menu full of fresh local flavours with a bit of molecular gastronomy thrown in for good measure. The degustation menu is the best way to savour his culinary masterpieces. The golden egg with a soft green olive starter is the signature dish — the mousse-like texture of the egg combined with the liquid explosion of the olive is a flavour sensation.
