 This is a specialized clinic run from within Elizabeth st Medical center that also involves the input from many allied health professionals from within and close to the center. It is dedicated to the very high quality management of diabetes, from diet and lifestyle to insulin pumps from the very young to the very old The principle GP, Dr Bruce Chadfield has had type 1 diabetes from the age of 12 and now uses an insulin pump for good contro. He really knows what its like to live with diabetes. Much of his work in UK hospitals involved diabetes management and as a GP in Acacia ridge for the past 15 years. He has developed his special understanding and experience of diabetes from a paraprofessional and personal perspective.
 He works very closely with the other allied health professionals needed for good diabetes management, especially the on site credentialed diabetes educator  Sarah Free but also optometrist, podiatrist, dietitian, dentist, pathology, physio, exercise physiologist, NDSS pharmacist and psychologist all on site or very close by.
 We very rarely need the help of hospital clinics or specialists and are proud to have become an associate member of the National Association of Diabetes Centers. ( Due to legislation people with diabetes who want a commercial driving license do need to see a specialist )
 We focus on the whole patient not just the blood sugar, with this in mind we have been able to cease insulin injections for some people with type 2 diabetes, who had been on insulin for years, with resulting better glucose control,  significant weight loss and better long term outlook.
 The results of our recent audit speak for themselves, but watch out for more showing changes since attending the clinic in weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney function and even cost of medications.
 We accept referrals from your usual GP for full diabetes management, to our diabetes educator alone or the entree as a whole can take over your complete GP needs.
