This beautiful two storey restaurant can seat up to fifty guests, and serves delicious Modern European food in elegant surrounds. The emphasis is on the fine dining experience in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere at an affordable price. Alchemy 731 offers an a la carte menu consisting of European style dishes with the main influences coming from France and Britain. As well as the A la carte menu there is a 6 course tastng menu and a menu surprise. Both are available with matching wines. The menu changes every 6-8 weeks and has a close relationship with the seasons. All dishes are exquisitely presented, balancing classic European styles with a modern twist. With the changing of the menu comes the development of the wine list to ensure we have some great wines that go well with the existing menu. The food is compiled by chef owner Derek Baker who has worked for Michelin star restaurants and five star hotels in London and the all over the U.K. He arrived in Sydney in 2003 and worked with Serge Danserau at Bathers Pavilion, he was head chef at Hickson Road Bistro in the Sydney Theatre Company in the Rocks, before opening Alchemy 731 in March 2005. The front of house manager Robert Lee has worked in some of Sydney's top restaurants with Chefs including Luke Mangan and Serge Danserau. He and his team will look after you and ensure you have an experience to remember. Alchemy 731 is fully licensed, though should you wish to bring in one of your personal favourite bottles of wine, you may so on Tuesday through to Thursday nights and for lunch on Friday at $7 per bottle. Alchemy 731 is open for Tuesday to Saturday for Dinners and Friday lunches only.

Fantastic dining experience in the heart of Mosman.

The food and wines here were decent, but for the 8 dish "tasting menu" (plus six wines), we found the $150 price tag to be a little high as the portions were all very small and we were still hungry by the end of the meal. Without the wine, the 8 course degustation menu is $80. Some of the dishes have ingredients that don't seem to sit well together, such as salmon and chicken. Overall, it was a good place to go as a once off, but I won't be returning.
Fine dining personified. Exquisite service and very fine food. Atmosphere is a little stale though.
