Tucked away in Historic Aldgate, Is a Delightful Pizzeria.

Aldgate Cafe is a pleasant surprise, charming interior decor and stunning alfresco dining at rear, amongst flowers and lush greenery, beside a tinkling stream.
The menu is varied with an excellent range of pizza's and pasta's, which include Vegetarian, Thai and Calzone Rustico, also a range of bruschetta, Salads, cotoletta, scaloponi, cakes, pastries and Gelati.
Our choices, Seafood Marinara Fettuccini, and an Aldgate Special Pizza. Both were of a very generous size, tasty and appetizing, presenting excellent value for money. We were in no hurry to leave, relaxed and enjoyed the ambience with a finishing coffee. Will call again.

Wow, a 5 star review? Must be joking! OK, now I can only review this business on the quality of the food as we have only used it as a take away. I will say that the area out the back does look quite nice and would probably be enjoyable if the food was in fact decent. However, decent it is not. The first time we had a "gourmet" pizza which was sloppy, greasy and undercooked. Foolishly in my desperation to find a good local takeaway option I decided to give them annother chance a couple of months later. Pasta this time. After arriving to pick it up and initially having the girl behind the counter look at me then wander off with no greeting or apparent reason we finally got our meals. A carbonara and an amiticiana, both Italian staples and while not a great cook myself, even I can do a reasonable version of both. The carbo, now this was about the sloppiest pile of processed garbage I have ever been served from a non-franchised establishment. While it is seriously a rare thing for me to NOT finish my plate of food even if it isnt great, this was in the bin after 2 mouthfulls. The amitriciana wasnt quite as bad but still way below par from somewhere claiming to be a Cafe.
It was cheap, I'll give it that. Apparently it was pasta special night so only $11.50 a serve. unfortunately there was absolutely nothing special about it.

Fantastic food and brilliant setting. There's a lovely outdoor eating area at the rear of the cafe where you can eat pizza or italian pastas with the bubbling sound of the creek nearby. A very relaxing place to have a quiet Saturday lunch.
