The Alibi room gives the best of both worlds - a great bar to visit at night, with a great atmosphere and range of drinks; and a great cafe too! Big sunday breakfasts, and great dinners - you can't go wong with Taco Tuesday ($2 tacos and $4 coronas!). Staff are the friendliest of any bar I've been too in the Valley/New Farm. A+++++

A super kitsch bar and restaurant, the Alibi Room features a splendid bamboo tiki bar, toy collection (some of which you an purchase) and knick knack ornaments. Big breakfasts are a specialty with the Trucker for the meat eaters and the Kombie for the vegan. Head to the Tiki Lounge if you’re just thirsty and drink a cocktail straight out of a coconut. If you’re just skint, head here on a Tuesday for $2 tacos.

Billing itself as the “black sheep” of New Farm, this bar is relaxed and quirky, with a vibrant events calendar, including Speedpoets. It offers value eating options: gourmet pizzas (including a three-cheese vegan pizza), tapas, burgers and pasta, plus $2 tacos on Tuesdays. The morning menu includes a massive trucker’s breakfast, or the vegan “Kombie driver’s breakfast”.
