Having moved from WA with Allied and receiving good service I once again engaged them for my move locally. Special mention to Dane (I think that was his name?) and Thomas who packed my belongings and to the two guys who managed to transport our stuff from the rental property to our new place with out a scratch. I wouldn't hesitate to use you again. Many thanks. Rick.
If only I had read these reviews of ALLIED PICKFORDS NEWCASTLE before signing on the dotted line.
Here are my woeful experiences.
The 'customer service' staff did not seem to know what she was doing. On numerous times my quote was emailed back to me wrong and I kept emailing back requesting changes (I deliberately emailed so that I would have a record in writing). In the end I telephoned as well and got a sulky and downright rude reception for pointing out her errors.
The packers seemed to know what they were doing, they certainly worked very quickly and were very keen to get rid of me, which in hindsight is probably so they could do a less than perfect job in half the time. The deficiency in their packing was only apparent when the stuff got to the other end and I became more and more dismayed as I opened boxes only to find smashed and broken objects. They assured me it was ok to take bottles of wine and that they would be in special boxes, however, the stained boxes that arrived told me my red wine had broken and leaked out ... onto other boxes and items.
Sadly, I have had to 'wear' the cost as the staff at the Newcastle office don't want to know about my insurance claim and insist that they are not liable for the breaks as I had signed the sheet to say I had received the goods in perfect condition, before I had unpacked all the boxes. I have moved house many times and have usually packed myself and not had any breakages at all, so god only knows what kind of training these 'packers' have.
All I can say is Beware. Do not use this company if you value your possessions. Yes their quote may be a thousand bucks less than the competitors but it's still not worth it if much of your stuff doesn't make it to the other end.
was happy with the pricing and all set to move.... but on the day they simply didn't show up! Car wasn't picked up, furniture wasn't picked up, even the dog was left waiting.
When I contacted the delightful office staff she tried to blame it all on me that I hadn't given her the right details ... even though I had made the booking 2 months prior so she should have had plenty of time to confirm any details that she needed to.
When I complained to the company some 'manager' contacted me and said his staff member had not been incompetent in 'forgetting' to schedule my move!
The only satisfaction that I have had is that my move was being paid for by a large corporation, who have since removed this company from their list of removalists that they use, so hopefully this staff incompetence will cost them thousands in the long run. Wish I had read the previous review before dealing with this company. To anybody else thinking of using them I cannot say more strongly "DO NOT USE ALLIED PICKFORDS NEWCASTLE, THEY ARE DREADFUL!'
I don't normally complain on public forums but after using this company I really feel I need to warn other people so that they do not have to go through the nightmare that is Allied Pickfords Newcastle - Cardiff. Right from the start it was awful with the office lady being one of the most unhelpful people I have ever dealt with. Wrong details entered on quote even though I was very specific and had given them details in writing, I had to go through the quote with a fine tooth comb and correct errors which made a big difference to the pricing. Pets and vehicles are 'outsourced' to other companies and once you've signed on the line, the staff at Allied Pickfords wash their hands of your problems and you're left in the lurch without a local contact person. For people worried about moving pets on planes this is particularly distressing when you can't get details confimed or questions answered. On moving day first the highly expensive packing occured where the packers threw things into boxes with no care whatsoever, leaving me to discover many things broken at the other end. Packing boxes were second hand and some were falling to pieces before they even got on the truck. Other peoples names and details on the second hand boxes caused confusion, ending up in us not receiving all of our stuff but getting a lot of somebody elses! I made sure that the transit bolts for the washing machine were left on top for them to fit ... but no, they put them in a plastic bag and stuffed them inside the drum of the washing machine, causing more damage! They flat packed our furniture and handed me a handful of screws as they left saying "take these, they'll probably get lost!" Still got the screws but the furniture is nowhere to be seen! Don't assume that your things will go in a truck on their own ... we assumed this and did not realise we were 'sharing' with somebody else, resulting in mix up of goods.
Make no mistake about it, Allied Pickfords Newcastle definitely do not live up to their claim of being "The Careful Movers".
