Opened in 1973 Amigos is the perfect place for anyone wanting a little Mexican atmosphere. Catering for different diets such as gluten-free, vegans and vegetarians, the restaurant offers sit-down meals, takeaways and function hosting in the garden or dining rooms. On offer is a variety of traditional Mexican foods such as salsa dips, Mexican pizzas, Nachos, Fajitas and many more. The menu also includes larger mains plates such as Chicken Diego, char-grilled chicken marinated in tequila, lime and salt served with tomatillo and avocado salsa, melted cheese, rice and salad. Be sure to tell the staff if you require mild chilli levels as with most Mexican food, chilli is a vital ingredient. The restaurant is fully licensed and accepts BYO. Kitchen closes at 9:30pm.

    Every time I've been here I have never been disappointed, living in sydney the trip down is worth it. Chicken Chimichangas and the Seorita Sin Cocktail are my personal favourites. Generally lovely staff, did have to deal with a rude staff member but didn't ruin my overall experience.

    We recently went to Amigos for a friends birthday. There was about 10 of us. They do two sitting so we decided to do the 8pm one as we didnt want to be kicked out as they re-book your table. We all ordered at about 8.30 and the staff suggested that we order entrees as it was going to be about a 45 minute wait. We didn't end up eating our mains til 10pm. The food was really good and the portion size is very large. It is a little pricey. On another note we kept ordering cocktails and I think in about a space of 3 hours I only drank two cocktails as it took so long for them to come out.

    Almost consistent with food quality. Very nice food with generous servings. A little pricey (watch out for the surcharges) and atmosphere is often a little overcrowded. Quite a popular restaurant in Wollongong but overall, the best mexican in the Illawarra.

    Amigos was one of my favourites for many years.
    It has a great atmosphere and excellent service - with delicious hearty meals (make sure you wear loose waisted pants!!)
    I think it is maybe a bit pricey these days - but give it a try and make up your own mind, the food is certainly very good, and it's a top venue for a party!! recommended
