Ampersand at Oxford St has been serving this lively neighbourhood for quite some time, with its beautiful bookstore cafe concept served in an intimate multi-storey terrace establishment. The seating area overflows to the adjacent alley featuring the breeze of the wind in many days of the year.

As it is a semi table service, they only take your orders at the counter (and pay in advance) before your orders delivered to your tables. The queueing area is a little small and can easily be overcrowded given the number of people visiting this place.

The menu consists of many breakfast/brunch options, with quite a lot of vegetable options. I ordered poached egg with sourdough toast. The eggs were sliced and served with avocado and salsa verde on top. It was a very delicious, full-flavoured dish that I have only experienced once in a blue moon. The serving size was also quite generous and it was also reasonably priced compared to many modern brunch establishments nowadays.

During my visit, the staff at the counter was friendly and courteous. The runners who delivered my meals were also attentive. The food came pretty quickly so you dont need to worry too much about extending your fasting period.

A great spot to really chill out and unwind. Great food & beverage staff, combined with tasty cafe style food and a large and inspiring collection of books - your afternoon or morning will fly by. Situated in the middle of Oxford Street, a great spot to check out before or after a day hitting the shops.

Really nice cute place, little bit pricy but generally really nice. Some nice different combinations in their food.

Such an awesome bookstore, and the cafe upstairs is great for a coffee or snack, the food is quite decent and overlooks Oxford St from above.

I wonder if reviewer JoeCitizen is an angry ex-employee:-) ??? My visit to Ampersand today was amazing. Great food, great service, and delicious coffee. Bought a book too! All for under $30. Brunch was called Mediterranean - a delicios haloumi based brekky. Macciato was perfection. Chef was rather cute also. Highly recommended as the best cafe spot in Paddington.

The food on offer is a bit average for the price although their drinks are spot on. Their brownie is also amazing. Fantastic little spot to catch up with a friend or pick up some books to peruse over coffee. Great place where you could easily lose several hours in the afternoon.

This is a great cafe with great atmosphere on a very busy street! Though once you enter, you escape the noise and bustle immediately. Great coffee, recommend. We have been using it to meet early morning and discuss our meetings there on a weekend!
