I don't get there as much as I used to but after a recent visit I've been reminded how good the Annandale is for music. It doesn't look like the decor has changed in years, which is a good thing. The sound is always pretty good and the bar service is quickly, which is quite a feat when the place is packed.
They've also recently opened up pub cha - yum cha pub style!!

The Annandale is one of the few venues in Sydney that managed to resist the urge to cut back on their live music and still has live music almost every night of the week.
It's not the fanciest place around but it does the job, a small, intimate live music venue. I've seen a huge array of artists at this venue over the past 13 years, entry is always affordable and some of them have been some of the best gigs I've been to. It's great that there are venues like the Annandale prepared to invest in music rather than poker machines and fancy stainless steel bars and seating!

The best place to see live music. This is the place where you go see your favourite bands before they get huge and sell out and never play small gigs ever again. Great pub otherwise when live music isn't on and a cool place to chill out with the mates on a Friday night.

A local pub doing yum cha? Does that mean deep-fried spring rolls and sweet chilli sauce on the wedges?

A LOCAL pub doing yum cha? Does that mean deep-fried spring rolls and sweet chilli sauce on the wedges? Bar Hop is piqued by the concept but wary of the execution — not least because the Annandale Hotel is a venerable institution on Sydney's sticky-carpet rock circuit. Years of mysterious spills on what was once carpet have joined up over time into a hard, blackened crust — something like bitumen. That's inside. Out back, there is a pleasant little bar and paved beer garden crammed with tables and sheltered by louvres from the sun or rain. The Wok and Roll restaurant pumps out Thai-ish noodle dishes on nights and yum cha on weekends.
