We went to Annapurna for lunch today and were very disappointed. The food was OK, but it was marred by the really poor service. Not only did the staff get our order wrong, the staff blamed the mistake on our accent. And inspite of being one of only two tables occupied in the whole restaurant, we had to go all the way to the kitchen to ask for a glass of water.
A recent trip to Hobart lead me to try this restaurant. The atmosphere is light, refreshing and modern for an Indian restaurant. The service was adequate.
The food was ok. 2 dishes served the Butter Chicken was average but the Lamb Rogen Josh was terrible with the meat having too much grissle and was as chewy as a leather shoe (with as much taste).
What saved this restaurant was the fact that after we gave them the feedback they politely apologised and refunded us that dish (thank you).
I've only eaten at the Salamanca Annapurna but it's my go to for a dinner with friends. Room to bring quite a big group (if you book ahead) and a great atmosphere with delicious food at great prices. My favourite dish is the meat Thali plate, but my friends love the butter chicken. Also appreciate that it's BYO for those of us watching our wallets. Service is sometimes slow but the great value food makes up for it.
Delicious Indian food in an intimate atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. I'd recommend one of their great value banquets which provide a variety of interesting dishes. Personal favorite: Coconut curry prawns.
The best Indian restaurant in Hobart! My friends and I have a 'curry club' where we go to a different Indian restaurant each month - we always end up back at Anapurna though! It has a great atmosphere, great staff and fantastic food.
