Ever since we joined the AKAC we have been delighted with our fitness progress. The gym equipment is terrific and well maintained; the staff are well trained, friendly, informative and happy to review your fitness program whenever you need it; the place is gender friendly and the pool is always very clean and a delight to swim in. The change rooms need new rubber mats in the showers and some people use the hot water for far too long, despite the friendly posters asking people to be water-wise, but, hey, the staff can't control everything. I'm happy to highly recommend a membership - and the fees are very reasonable!

I have had three children enrolled for 15 weeks in the swim school programme. I have been very disappointed with the standard of the lessons and feel my children have gone backwards in their stroke style. Organisation has been poor and the instructor has been away for almost half of the lessons. Instead of being replaced by a regular person my children have had 6 different instructors therefore losing any consistency. When I complained and tried to get out of the 15 week contract, I was refused.

I recently joined the wellness centre gym on the basis that I could use the treadmill for more than 45mins in a non peak usage time. The centre has now recalibrated the treadmills to cut off after 20mins in both peak and non peak times. Totally unsuitable for me.
Most of the time im unsure if the aircon is on,There is no separate change room and toilet area in the gym -you have to change in the swim complex amenities. Be prepared for screaming babies, frustrated parents and water all over the floor which makes changing from work gear into gym gear a nightmare. I spoke to another gym patron who told me she gets changed in her car. I've spoken to management to terminate my contract after a number of calls, it doesn't look promising.

  To ensure fair usasage we have limited the cardio equipment to 20min. However, we are more than happy for members to continue if there is no one waiting. As a response to your concerns, we cancelled your contract for free when you requested it in March.
  Since your initial concerns regarding the changerooms, mats have been fitted, which allows members to get change without worrying about a wet floor.
