I had been meaning to try out Apertivo after reading rave reviews from Local Stars, so when the "what are we having for dinner tonight" conversation started up on Saturday evening, I quickly called and booked us a table. Surprisingly, they could accommodate a table for six at pretty short notice.

We ordered some tapas-style dishes to share - seared scallops with pancetta, pork & truffle sausages, lamb skewers and slow cooked pork belly. The lamb skewers were average but the other dishes were great. I ordered a wild boar ravioli with a truffle butter sauce which was very tasty. A friend who ordered the duck breast with a white bean puree also left raving about it for some time, so I guess it was pretty awesome. :)

My husband and I went for dinner at Aperitivo last Wednesday and overall we left very impressed both with meal and the restaurant itself. It is easily accessible on the main strip of Norton Street and once you enter the atmosphere and lighting is very cozy and inviting. You have the option of a sit down dinner or can take a seat on the bar stools and enjoy a drink.

We were overly impressed with the impeccable and very attentive staff who ensured we were catered to from the moment we walked in until the time we left. The menu is not exactly what you would expect for an italian restaurant and I couldn't believe that the Wine List was 22 pages (far bigger than the actually menu but anyway). We decided to sample a few different dishes from the menu and chose two share plates for our entrees - Kings Prawns wrapped in Pancetta and the saute mussels in white wine - each with matching wines which made all the difference. Both were excellent and there was just enough to share between two. For mains we each chose the Lamb Shanks which were cooked to perfection and crazily enough we couldn't resist ordering a dessert. I seriously recommend ordering the Homemade Italian doughnuts with nutella fondue. It is very decadent and I would suggest sharing but ohhhh it was so nice. All the dishes were reasonably priced and I offer many compliments to the chef!!!

Overall, a very pleasant night out and I would definitely recommend Aperitivo as a top pick if dining out in Leichhardt.

I tried out Aperitivo with family after dinner because I had been told that the tiramisu was to die for. Sure enough, when the dessert arrived it was absolutely delicious! Very creamy and a decent serving- perfect for sharing or indulging on your own.

The restaurant has a very cosy atmosphere and the layout is unique. The staff are very friendly as well!

After looking at the blackboard of specials I'll definately be back for a meal next time i'm in the area!

This new wine bar and restaurant proves Italians do share plates with better style. We love the small tables along the side-wall but the bar up front is great for people-watching. Start the evening with a Caprioska before grazing on silky goats cheese gratin salad and pancetta wrapped scallops. Just make sure you leave room for the plump pillows of chocolate and chestnut dessert ravioli.
