    We hired with these guys a few months ago and I had a great time in Tassie driving around. I found them really helpful and friendly. They are a family run company and they really went out of their way to give us maps and ideas of where to go on our trip, we needed to extend the hire by a day because I stuffed up the booking and that was no drama at all, I left a message and they called me back to let me know it had been done- too easy!
    I reckon you should look them up as they have a range of cars you just don't see anywhere else ( I wish I had a burl in the Boxster!) and even if you just get a Corolla the rates and service are that good. I just wish they were in Hobart too because that's where we are going for our next trip and it would make hiring a car heaps easier.

    These guys are great, excellent service and were very accommodating during our extended stay due to the volcanic ash cloud.

    After being royally stuffed around by big hire companies like Europcar, these guys showed that hiring a car doesn't have to be an exercise in patience for stupidity, paranoia and fine print.

      Thanks for the review Ben, I am sorry that your holiday was unfortunately extended but I am glad you were happy with the service (we do try to keep the fuss down to a minimum!) and hope your little one didn't miss you too much! We would be delighted to see you again if you return to Tasmania- we now have BMW 330ci Convertibles which are lovely, so if you liked the 328i you will love these (we will see if we can throw in a little extra for a loyal returning customer too)!.

    I hadn't hired a car before and found that it was very easy with Apple Car hire. Friends had recommended them especially as they make sure you have a Corolla when you book one and I wanted to make sure I was driving a car I was familiar with as I understand that the "big boys"will often give you a Nissan or something else when you book a Corolla.
    Apple Car hire recommend you take travel insurance to cover the insurance excess so that was good as I already had it and I didn't have to pay the daily extra fee for the excess reduction and my husband was an extra driver for no charge, they also didn't charge for mileage which were things I notice most companies charge for. The car was a tidy 2005 Corolla Seca just like mine and drove nicely. It was also very convenient to have it delivered to the airport. I have a very limited experience of hire car companies but if I will be recommending this company to anyone I know travelling to Launceston.

    I have hired a number of times with Apple Isle Car Hire and I have enjoyed driving different cars around Tasmania which I would otherwise have no opportunity of driving. The service is personal and pleasant and I must say that the review saying they are uncontactable is a very different experience to my own, I have left messages when the need has arisen and I have had a prompt return call, I do also know that 24 hour roadside assist is supplied so it would seem to me to be unjust to blame this small family business for their own failure to utilise the services provided!
    I have experienced a lot of enjoyment driving the BMW Z3 and Mazda Mx5 around the windy Tasmanian roads and pleasantly surprised that it is so affordable, I much prefer an interesting car to the bland brand new offerings supplied for a similar daily rate by other hire car companies.
    I intend to hire one of their Porsche models next time I am in Tasmania.

    Be Warned !!! Car was faulty - the air-con / fan / heating did not work and we had no windscreen demisting. GPS we ordered was also a problem as it had no power and the car cigarette lighter charger didn't work (another car fault). Our many phone calls over 2 days were not answered or returned and we ended up having to return the car early because we couldnt see through the windscreen in the rain. We had to rehire with another company because we couldnt contact them and couldn't drive the car safely in the poor weather. After requesting a refund of some of the hire fees for the faulty car they told us we should have fixed the car ourselves as it was only a fuse or something! Unfortunately we are not mechanically minded and had no way of knowing this was the problem! There are also hidden charges as you need to return the car professionally cleaned to avoid a cleaning fee! I do not know of any other car hire company that expects you to be able to diagnose issues with the car and then fix it yourself or that requires the car to be professionally cleaned inside and out on return!

    We chose this company to try and support a local business, the unique car selection and prices looked good. Sadly we ended up majorly out of pocket for this choice as we had to double pay for car hire and waste a whole lot of time on our short holiday with the multiple issues.

      If you choose not to leave a message on the answering machine to let anyone know there is a problem and choose not to call the RACT to assist with the problem which occured after your hire started, but then consider it reasonable to abandon the vehicle, filthy inside and out, unsecured and empty of fuel that you probably won't have people fawning all over you to give you all your money back!
      Had this customer actually left a message the call would have been returned and the fuse which blew when they were fiddling with the GPS would have been replaced, or the RACT would have done it,or they could have done it themselves if they wished! For the record it is not true that professional cleaning is required- the car just need to be returned as it is issued, which this customer did not, it was filthy and empty of fuel.
      This customer is leaving vindictive reviews because the Office of Fair Trading found in our favour as did the bank when they tried to back out the legitimate charges.
