One of Victoria’s premier art centres, the Art Gallery of Ballarat, founded in 1884, is also the oldest regional art gallery in Australia. Over 6000 works, ranging from contemporary works to an impressive collection of Aboriginal paintings and impressions of Australia’s colonial history, are showcased in this magnificent heritage building. Located in the heart of Ballarat’s restaurant and theatre precinct, the gallery is also home to the original flag from the 1854 Eureka Stockade.
