Had a late lunch here on the weekend with a friend, the food is good. They were playing Beyonce which my friend commented on as not being very inspired choice. So it's pretty relaxed and if you want a casual dinner then it is ok. If you want to have a special night with a date there are restaurants with nicer decor and atmosphere that are similarly priced in Chinatown.
I've tried the dumplings(Gyoza) and even not Japanese style fried dumplings. The sushi roll(Maki) is sooo rough. You can go other places for a better quality Bento box but seriously not this one. This restaurant is for people who have no idea what is true Japanese food !
If this is one of the previous reviewers favourite places, they need to get out more seriously. As Japaneese goes, its as bad a whaling... full of fat desroys the environment and just a dogs breakfast! Try walking down the road to the Sushi Train in Newtown and you will taste better Japaneese at a better price. Asakusa is a blight on Newtown and should be made illegal likeread more

Quick and easy Japanese. That's about it really, try the sashimi beef, probably the best thing on the menu. Unfortunately the quality has deteriorated over the years, or my tastes have changed. Either way it's worth it for a weeknight bight or dinner with a big group.
