Ashoka is one of Brisbane’s original Indian restaurants, and has been serving sensational curries for 30 years to everyone, including Sir Elton John and the Australian cricket team. It’s a small, cosy restaurant, suitable for couples and families, and its specialties include kashmiri rogan josh: kashmiri-style lamb cooked with saffron, yoghurt, almonds and spices. There is a good range of beers and a small wine list. Mains average: $13.
