Assaggio Cafe

Directions
Many of them are filing into this new cafe with its swish and sexy designs - dark browns and slate tones, rows of hot orange ball lights around the edges, swirling etched servery sections, big lettering and catchy texts over feature walls. First, add the word cafe to this new venture, making it a more accessible destination for families and lifestyle-conscious residents who up to now might have been concerned about sitting down in anything but a fast and cheap pizza and pasta joint. The good thing is the Assaggio Cafe gang has created a very smart bridge between its starred restaurant and the popular Italian. It's a cafe with table service. Assaggio mantra to offer an authentic Italian family dining experience.

Love it here!! Have been a few times and always am impressed by the food and the service. Gives Nonna a run for her money! Although it is a bit pricey, you definitely get what you pay for!! :)

Took my lady friend here for a date. Was a great place. We had a waiter that was friendly and had plenty of jokes and accents to make us laugh. We ordered there Pizza's, one each and shared. We then ended the meal with some of their great gelati. The gelati was very good but the pastry was a bit of a let down. Overall, great place. Recommended.

Awesome decor, friendly staff...all looked great as we walked in and sat down. I must say i think they need to find a way to dampen the sound, very hard to talk in there but i guess thats a norm for some cafes. Ordered a starter, and a main, starter came out in reasonable time, main took 3/4 of an hour. Simply not good enough
Food seemed excessively salty, and rather pricey for what it is.
    I can say i would give it a 6.5/10
I doubt very much i would dine there again.

Warm and welcoming. First walk in the door of Assaggio Cafe and there is the dessert cabinet, which then determines what/how much you are going to order for main! Great selection of mains and the pizzas are fantastic, tasty, worth getting a whole lot and sharing with friends. Then doing the same with the desserts and just getting stuck into them. Great coffee to finish off the meal. Friendly staff, good wine list or BYO. During the day you can even watch the resident Pastry Chef making the desserts. It is only new and I have been back 6 times!

Delicious decor, but we left with a BITTER taste in our mouths!
Was very impressed the first visit, sorely disappointed the second. Took other family members after our first visit and experienced long delays between ordering and mains arriving . Other families who were seated after us had ordered, eaten and left their tables while we still waited for our mains to arrive. When we enquired about the delay we were told that if we wanted our meals more rapidly we should have requested it when we ordered. (first time I've heard that one and I've eaten in restaurants all over the world). We placed our orders at 6.20 and were still waiting for our mains at 7.20pm!!! Pity, because generally the staff were very friendly with only one staff member making it clear that we were in the wrong for assuming that our mains would follow closely after our starters. This situation could have been handled so much better with a simple apology and an accommodating attitude.
The question is, do we brave it for a third attempt or cut our losses?

BIG is the word all round for Campbelltown's cafe sister to the prized Assaggio Ristorante of Hyde Park.

The melting pot is hot out in the northeastern suburbs. Hot as Hades. The temperature has struck out around 40C, yet at the street bus stop outside Assaggio Cafe and in its car park and entrance there seems little evidence the locals are staying inside.

The ethnic makeup is subcontinental, plus horn of Africa, and a continuing trail of Italians and all manner of Australian families and groups.

Many of them are filing into this new cafe with its swish and sexy designs - dark browns and slate tones, rows of hot orange ball lights around the edges, swirling etched servery sections, big lettering and catchy texts over feature walls.

Contemporary - and big. Very big. Yet, by mid-evening, it is full.

A lively centre of suburban exuberance, you might say, and all power to the group associated with Hyde Park's high-end Italian ristorante of the same Assaggio name who have seized this former row of shops, spent much of last year fitting it out and since October...
