Average food, disappointing service. I honestly cant understand why this place would have positive reviews. First they we're slow in getting to us and kept ignoring us when we asked if we could order, then they messed up two of our orders by giving us the wrong fillings in our burritos, then the waitor said it was our fault because we'd accepted the wrong dish! When we all finally got served what we'd orderd, the food was average at best. Flying Fajita Sisters (just down the road) is a thousand times better, in both food and service. If you want mexican, go there instead.

They seem to be a Californian based business, from last I asked, which would explain the generous serving portions and hovering staff.

I love the feel of this place, their tableclothes are made from paper and you can draw on them while you wait for your meal, which will turn out delicious.

I don't like some western style service because it feels a bit insincere for staff to routinely come by and ask every table how they're going at around the middle of your meal, but that's just personal preference. I'm sure I'm just weird here because it seems people generate more tips with such behaviour.

More important than the service, in my opinion, is the food. While not the best Mexican I have ever had (so far, the best Mexican I have had was served in Boston, but I'm sure if I visited Mexico it would be even better...), I love baja-cantina because good (or even "not insultingly crap") Mexican food is really hard to find in Sydney.

We made a booking for last Friday eve to celebrate an anniversary, only to be told that not only were we not on the list, and that (and very quickly too) i was in fact lying about having called and spoken to a staff member to make the booking/

The rudeness of the staff in saying this was astounding and uncalled for, and this was all within earshot of the owner of the restaurant who didn't seem to care.

I don't know what it is going on with this restaurant but i would recommend steering well clear of their incompetence and absolute rudeness.

worst restaurant experience i ever had anywhere.

Not usually one to venture out to a Mexican Restaurant I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this one was. The food had a modern twist on the traditional flavours and everything truly tasted homemade as stated. The prices are very reasonable - even for alcohol (A Corona being only $5) - and all up for an entree, 2 main meals and 4 Coronas only $63 - bargain. We went on a Saturday night so it was very busy and noisy but overall the service was great, the prices were great and the food was good.

I've never been the biggest fan of Mexican food, never knowing the difference between a fajita and a quesadilla, to me it all much of the same. Until I went to Baja Cantina. If you tired of the Old el paso flavour of Aussie mex, this is the place to go. The first thing that impressed me were the house-made cornchips, they were the crunchiest most delicious cornchips Ive ever eaten.. served with the trio of dips, it was the perfect orientation into Mexican food. The second thing was the sangria. Authentic and the perfect chilled beverage to accompany the spicy flavours. All in all, the meals were reasonably priced, the service was relatively quick and the flavours were amazing. I dont think you could make a wrong choice here. Anyone who has written a bad review of this place must have been incredibly unlucky because we couldnt stop raving about Baja Cantina.

The Beer Garden out the back is worth an extra star alone! What a place for summer dinner. The food does let Baja down. While the chips are yummy - the mains are fairly greasy, oily and tasteless. Though nothing better or worse than other mexican in Sydney. The staff are very friendly and the beer is fantastic!

Well the service was great, very friendly, when they forgot two meals they didn't charge us for them. Sitting outside in the beer garden is perfect, especially in the daylight savings months. The problem is the food, although reasonably priced the taste isn't up to scratch. Pretty dry and tasteless. The salsa and chips though are a winner.
