    I'm only a recent customer to Balmain Skin sense, having had them recommended by a friend after a string of bad experiences in other salons. The staff are always friendly, reasonable, and full of compliments, and the atmosphere is relaxed. If you want eyebrows done here, I'd recommend Melissa, aka, "The Eyebrow Queen".

    Two months ago I found myself barried in work, I was doing 10 hour days wearing myself out and wasn't working aswell as I could have because I was just exhausted. My boyfriend could see how hard I was trying so (the wonderful person he is) he arranged a day off with my boss and spontaneously booked me in for a facial at the 'Balmain Ella Bache', I had no idea about it until I was walking through the door, instantly I felt relaxed I was greeted with soothing music, soft aromatic scents and a smiling face. There was no wait, no problems and the facial was amazing, I have quite sensitive skin that dries out very easily and they worked a treat on it. For days after my facial I didn't even bother wearing makeup I had radiant skin that felt clean and beautiful. I now treat myself to a facial every few weeks at 'Ella Bache', to relax. That hour luxury gives me time to love my body and get my mind organised. They may say a "Healthy mind, Healthy body" but i've learnt "Happy body is a Happy mind".

    I was given a gift voucher from my friends for my birthday - I booked an appointment two weeks in advance as they didn't have any spots available earlier. On the Saturday I had double booked myself to help my mother move, so rung up in the morning to cancel my appointment (meanwhile I received no reminder text message or call confirming the appointment). They were quite rude and said that as it was a gift voucher - by cancelling my appointment the voucher was now not vaild. I thought beauty therapy was meant to be a peaceful experience... My friends $100 is now gone into their pocket, without getting any service in return. If I was a without a gift voucher Im sure that they would have happily re-booked my appointment another time. I for one, will not be booking an appointment again due to their tone and attitude while I was cancelling my appointment.

      Darmah it is unfortunate that you were not able to experience the treatment your friend kindly chose for you.
      Our policy is & states on our vouchers that 24 hrs cancellation notice is required, if not given the voucher may be made void.
      We confirm all of our clients the day before for more than 15 min appointments, we had tried to get hold of you but were unavailable, you may have seen a missed call from us? On that Saturday you had not remembered to call to tell us that you had double booked yourself, we called you. We pay our staff penalty rates for weekends so to not show up to a $100 appointment is hard for a small business.

      I can see how frustrating it must be for you. Its always such a pleasure to receive a voucher from a friend. However, having a salon myself I also know how frustrating it is on our side of the coin not having that space for a paying or another voucher client to use. After all, it is our income! I guess thats why hotels, airlines and even resturants now charge cancellation fees.

      As politely as possible, beauticians and hairdressers are often booked out on weekends, so when you cancel appointments at the last minute, that costs them money as no other client can be fitted in if you don't tell them until the last minute.

      So while your experience was a bummer, had you managed to make it in maybe it would have been different? I'm one of their customers and I really enjoy going there, I've never had any issues with shifting appointments, but have never tried to do so at the last minute.

      I agree whith what you everyone is saying - and I do understand the plight of a small business, I myself own a consultancy business. I maybe coming off as a bitter customer - but that is not so. I'm sure that the experiance would have been wonderful if I received a treatment. My quibble, and what I find problematic about this whole situation is that, I would have been happy to pay a cancellation fee, however, I received no reminder about the apointment or phone call (they said that I had to request when I booked the appointment, which I was unaware of), and lets admit it - if I was a paying customer, this wouldn't have been an issue. Life gets busy - I understand - both in businesses and in general life... and time = money. But, I simply did not find the situation very fair.... maybe I should pull my head in and cop the $100 loss on the chin....blame it on myself, my forgetting 24hours before that i had an appointment, and move on. I guess, I took issue with the principal.
