We had the most amazing experience at Bamboo and Lily! the minute we walked into the restaurant to the minute we left. We were there for a friends b'day and amongst the 6 of us had all various dietary needs....gluten free, lactose intolerant and no garlic or onion allowed... waitress there was very accommodating to our needs and had no hesitation to make changes to our meals and even made a special b'day dessert for our friend, that was diary free. The decor was spectacular and loved the background music!! our meals were delicious and really made us felt like we were back in Thailand again eating really fresh and authentic Thai food (just with lesser chilli). You have to try the rice paper rolls and the whole fish.....we cleaned the plate!! Bamboo & Lily represents Elwood well, it is young/modern/stylish....friendly service and of course the good food was a plus! It was fun night out for us especially when it was a special occasion for our friend.... we will be back for more ... and can't wait for Summer so we can sit outside...will be our new hangout in Elwood!!!!
Very disappointing 'service' from beginning to end. First my friend and I were seated, she was given a glass and a menu, I was not. I took a glass from the empty table next to us and we shared the menu. Once we had decided what we would like to order we waited patiently for about 10 minutes until our order was taken. In this time the empty table next to us had be seated and ordered. My friend ordered a Thai coconut juice which took another 10 minutes to come out - the table beside us actually received their mains by the time she got her drink. The juice was warm so she asked for some ice. Our waiter took it to the kitchen to get ice and then promptly returned and with out apologizing explained they will no longer be serving the juice as they freeze it and have to microwave it to defrost it when ordered and they "can't be bothered with them anymore" and walked away! A little while later my main comes but without my rice which was "on the way". My friend is waiting anxiously for her food whilst I sit and watch mine go cold (1. It'd be rude to eat while she has no food and 2. I need to eat it with my rice) it comes about 10 minutes after I receive mine. We were both very unimpressed with the service but what comes next is what was really shocking.. Before we leave my friend very politely informed the waiter that the food was lovely (it was nothing special just wanted to be nice) but she hadn't received such bad service for a very long time. Instead of apologizing, the staff member became extremely defensive and said "well all the other customers here are regulars and they love it and no one has ever had a problem with it so clearly you're just having a bad day!" My jaw dropped. Coming from a customer service background I know that was completely unacceptable. Could you imagine if they had a customer yelling and swearing at them how they would have reacted, when we had tried to be so polite. For the record, we had both had great days until that little out burst. I will definitely never be going there again. Such a shame.
