Get in early or be prepared to line up. I usually ask BR to call my mobile while I grab a cocktail or two around the corner at the Hazy Rose waiting for a table.
A must is the garlic and cheese pizza for an entree - its the bomb.
The service is quick, the place is cosy and if you want a cheap meal BR is the pick. I'm not a huge fan of the pasta's and main meals but the pizza's are the best - real traditional Italian.

No way are the pizzas the best in Sydney! Try Pizza Mario or Lucio's and report back.

Reliable traditional italian pizza and always busy Bar Reggio is a Sydney institution. It is the kind of place you come to because it reminds you of the good old days when Stanley St was known as Little Italy and Darlinghurst men had hair on their chest.

Best pizza, best value, best atmosphere. There's a reason for the lunch time que. Love it!

You can tell how good this place is by the amount of people they have squeezed inside and the line waiting to be seated. Plain, simple, wooden tables and chairs are packed in and then rearranged to accommodate the next wave of diners. Bar Reggio is an old fashioned, family owned Italian caf serving amazing pizza and pasta among other great dishes. It is fully BYO with corkage being a very small amount of loose change per head. The pizza is served on wooden pizza trays and comes with a flavour matched by very few. The pasta is of equal calibre and will not leave you any room for dessert when you finish. The best part about this place however is bill time. We ate their recently with a group of 6 and we were full from about $15 per head (we brought our own wine). Perfect for a small group, but bring your voice box as it is loud and crawling with people!

This place serves consistently great food. The perfect spot for a group dinner, the servings are generous, the atmosphere is lively and the best part - it's BYO with $1 corkage per head (or something not far from that). Every time I need to organise a no fuss dinner with a group of friends, it's hard to look past Bar Reggio. I went here recently with a group of about eight people, and we ordered some garlic bread, a few large pizzas and some salads to share between us, sat there for hours on a Saturday night without being rushed out, and it came to something like $15 a head. Seriously, it's hard to find something as affordable as that in Sydney. The pollo pizza is a must-try and I have to say I now order it every time I go back there, but I've also tried a few of their pastas, which are also very tasty.

Pizza is such a personal experience. I've never met any two people who can ever truly agree on what makes a great pizza great. So, with that worldly advice in mind - consider Bar Reggio fair middle ground. There's basically something for each taste & preference.

Pizzas are generally served on the thinner base / thinner topping approach. There is a good selection of different options for vegos and non-vegetarian. Some of the meat based options are a little on the oily side for my liking - but, hey, refer to first comment - no one agrees on pizza, so make up your own mind on that.

The surrounds & decor are humble - though, clean. It can get hot inside with the pizza ovens churning out a constant stream of circular delights. Either layer your clothing for disrobing (& disposal after the garlic smell permeates every inch of fabric), or grab a seat outside if the weather is not inclement.

Meals are served promptly along with just the minimum amount of service required to not offend you. That's not a criticism as such (it's nice to have a no bull Sydney eating experience), it's just a warning - don't expect a lot of airs & graces from wait staff & front of house.

This place I'm told has been almost the same winning formula of good food + minimal fuss + low prices for so long, that it has a permanent footprint on the Sydney restaurant scene. If you're unsure, why not check it out for a work lunch with the team. You will eat well, pay almost nothing, and it's just noisy enough that you can feign hard of hearing & smile and nod to everything your seating partner says. There's also so much more on the menu than just pizza, so run wild and try some of the other options.

BYO Wine & Beer. Other drink options are limited, only basic soft-drink selection.

if you want no fuss italian in a family environment then this is the place no go. highly recommend the trecolore pizza or scampi fettecine. it's really cheap for what you get and there are very few dishes over 20 dollars. if you are looking for a cheap eat then I'd recommend here. get here early or after 9pm if you don't want to wait.

It feels like you are in Italy when you eat at Bar Reggio. The basic decor and the Italian staff make for a real authentic experience. The menu is extensive and portion sizes are very generous. The women I have eaten here with find it difficult to finish their pasta mains and men are almost always full after theirs. A rarity today.

The fact that it is BYO makes for a super cheap outing. Most pastas on the menu are $12 and you wont pay more than $18 for a pizza. The spinach and ricotta cannelloni is to die for. Served in a pancake rather than pasta - it feels slightly lighter. I often order a side of vegetables to eat with it - great value at around $3.

It is not unusual to see a queue out the door on a weeknight - and on weekends you simply have to book otherwise you will struggle to get a table. Staff are always very accommodating though, offering to give you a call when a table becomes available. Bar Reggio is loud and full of character - great for a mid week catch up with the girls or a big group birthday dinner.

A Sydney intuition that everyone must try!

I ordered the special linguni with prawns, was delicious! Very busy restaurant, European staff who are very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced for the location and would definitely come back here again.
