Bavarian Bier Café on York St., Sydney, is a very popular place for a night out with friends and to experience Oktoberfest anytime in Sydney. It is a fun place to be with a large range of beer choices, happy hour and bar challenge events. Over the bar, there are plenty of traditional snacks and meals originating from Germany.

Been here a few times, but I must say it's either super good or super bad. I mean the first time I went I thought it was the best steak I have in Sydney, to close to the worse meal in Sydney? So it's real hard to rate this place.

It does get super busy on Friday nights (not surprising after work) so try the other nights if you want a table without a booking. Beers are great of course and almost go without explanation. However, it also has a decent wine they have that too (for those non-beer drinkers).

To summarise the reviews below they sort of agree, the food is very very good (at times) but the service just takes for ever, unless your sitting at the bar.

a staple for lunch and after work drinks. KGirls review is spot on - large enough to be comfortable but a cosy atmosphere makes it great. Warm pretzels are the winner for me and my reccomendation is to try the Lady's Beir - Lychee style!

Love this place. Huge restaurant but cosy at the same time. The waitress' are friendly however they had more interest in my boyfriend that taking our orders. Awesome food, didn't have to wait too long, would definately come back here again!

Didn't eat here - just went for a drink - but it has a great atmosphere and the service was really friendly. The menu looked good as did the food coming out.

I went to dinner here with my family for my birthday. The food was great and the service was average. I would suggest trying the pork ribs. yum!

The food is exellent and the beer is served in 1 litre glasses.

It has a very german feel to it if you have ever been to the Oktoberfest you will know what I mean.

It is perfect when you have a large group to feed.

the portions are big and the sausages are very tasty.

the girls that serve you have to apply the 3 button rule which means the top 3 buttons on their blouses have to be open - just like germany.

Takes AGES to get any service whatsoever. Best go to the O'Connell street one - you'll maybe get a beer there...

Nice bistro-type fare, although it can get very noisy (and crowded) in the evenings. Their sampler plate is worth trying (schnitzel, pork belly, sausages with matching sides). Lots of beers to choose from but the desserts were uninspired.
