Worth stopping in just for the service! The waitresses here are always happy to help out and bring you a beer! They were always asking my friends and I if we would like another... and we just couldn't say no.
We dropped in on a wet day and sat at the front bench looking towards the beach. This would normally be an amazing view but on the day we were there, we simply watched the rain and storm roll in. But it was a great atmosphere! Who could complain being surrounded by such great staff, good food and even better beer.
For anyone who likes beers with more flavour than some of the traditional Aussie beers, this place is a must! It's not the cheapest place to grab a drink but can you really put a price on drinking Steins and pretending that you're at Oktoberfest??
On a cold winters night, as you roam the streets of Bondi ( or more specifically the main strip Campbell Parade)- there lies a welcoming abode of warmth, rich flavoursome food, hospitable service and....beer! After one of those tiresome Saturdays full of errands and shopping we searched our Entertainment Book for places we could eat in Bondi. Low and behold the Bavarian Bier offer came up with 'Buy 1 Meal and get another free'- we promptly called the number we saw online and booked a table (it goes to a reservations desk somewhere that does booking for all the Bavarian Bier Cafes in Sydney!). As we walked into the dimly lit restaurant- we were greeted by our hostess who promptly sat us at our reserved table. We had a great view of the kitchen where 4 chefs were working like clockwork to prepare meals. We decided we'd spoil ourselves and order the $36 platter comprising of succulent chicken schnitzel, 3 kinds of sausage, roasted pork belly, Red Cabbage my fav!), mash potatoes and gravy. About 15 minutes after ordering to our surprise the food arrived. The fusion of all the flavours was amazing, the crunchiness of the schnitzel, the juicy warm red cabbage, the sweetness of the apple sauce... yum yum... With a glass of white wine to match we were set. I've been to the other Bavarian Bier Cafes who have pretty much the same menu from memory- but the way our dishes were prepared here was truly memorable. Because we were so impressed by the food- we decided to also spoil ourselves with a dessert to share- Sticky date pudding-like style. Served with honey ice-cream this dessert seemed like it was made for two people with two huge slices on a plate. I can only recommend that you try it yourself to know how delicious it was. Next time I am in Bondi it will be hard to go past this place- franchise or no franchise, coupon or no coupon- this place is great value and serves really hearty food.
