The northside's German outpost is a popular spot for hoisting absurdly large mugs of beer.
Scanning the beer list at Manly's Bavarian Bier Cafe, I suddenly have a flashback to when I lived as a child in Munich for a couple of years with my parents. I was vastly underage - about 10 - yet the beer marketers really must have done their homework because, 30 years on, I still remember their jingles, word for word. It's worth noting that if you want to sit outside to drink in the view as well as the brew, it's required that you order food. We try the Bavarian tasting platter ($21.50). There are tasty sausages, schnitzel, and pork belly slices all with matching condiments. It's rich but good quality and leaves us satisfied. (The antipasto platter, $19.50, is a lighter option). ...
