i wouldnt recomend getting your car fixed here i went in they didnt replace the clips put plugs in back the front and ended up spending another $630 at another mechanic to fix the problems they caused go to them if you want a cheap half assed job done but dont be surprised if it costs you more $
My first experience with Bay Tyre and Mechanical was a good one, I had a the adjuster nut on my power steering motor break. The guys were quick to get it fixed for me at a good price.
I then had the guys install new brake pads in the front of my 4WD, and install new rear springs in the rear. And this is where the problems started.
1. One of the pads on the drivers side had been installed back to front! So I had metal on metal. The guys had to get my disc re-machined because of the damage.
2. A few days later while driving home from work, I started to hear a loud banging noise coming from the rear of the car.
When I pulled over on the Gateway motorway I was shocked to see the drivers side rear shock absorber was hanging loose at the bottom (free hanging) as the nut had fell out. It was obviously not tightened after they installed my rear springs.
I tied it up with rope and made my way back to the workshop. The guys were very apologetic, and fixed it straight away. Just to be sure they checked the other side and it was loose too!
3. Then.... a couple of weeks later I started to hear a banging noise coming from the passenger side front brakes every time I applied the brakes. I took it in to the shop. The last people to touch my brakes were Bay Tyre and Mechanical, when they fixed the 'pad in back to front'.
They had swapped the pads, so that the damaged pad was now on the passenger side, and they had forgotten to replace the anti rattle plate over the pads, which explains the banging noise. A simple mistake right? Here is the best bit, they said that I had lost the plate and if I wanted another one I should try the Hilux wreckers at Caboolture! I got the "nothing to do with us" attitude.
I am aware that mistakes do happen, and that's why I always kept my cool, but that was just plain rude and bad customer service.
I was stuck in a very sticky situation the other day when I put Unleaded fuel into my Diesel fuel tank at the BP on the High way. Once I realised this stupid mistake I begun to stress out big time. I am a Mobile pet groomer and my business realise on my car working at it best performance. I phoned these guys in my most desperate time of need. As soon as they new what had happened they were on it with no problems. They organised a tow truck for me which arrived within the 20 minutes as I was told and they even had my car ready for me to pick up that evening. They were fantastic. I can't believe how on the ball they were and extremely supportive of me returning to work. I highly recommend this business to anyone. Thanks guys. Warm regards, Melissa Knight
