not bad place to have coffee and catch up with some friends. service is a bit slow but then again they do look busy constantly. food is a bit on the average/poor side as the other people have mentioned. price is ok though.

Big John's is good because its open late, the prices are reasonable and it is fully licenced with very well stocked bar. Areas of improvement could include service (and service time) and the menu needs to be revised.

Everyone knows the food is huge at big johns - and if you didn't, you do now. I didn't think the food was that bad (stuck to pizza tho) but i did see the literally giant bowls of pasta being carried through the restaurant by the wait staff. Only gripe is the service - we waited over an hour before being served and then waited a further hour before our food arrived - upon realising this we were offered some compensation but it was.... free coffee - apparently 2 hours of wasted customer time is worth about 6 bucks.

Big John's is located on a busy road (Rocky Point Road) and always seems to be busy with fairly reasonable prices. However the only thing really going for Big John's is it's big servings.

The food is very average. A mountain of pasta arrived, but it was overcooked and tasteless. The T-bone steak (ordered medium rare) was huge but was not cooked as desired (it came medium/well done) and was accompanied by a very poor limp salad and some bland boiled vegetables.

The pizza was not cooked sufficiently (with the base still very doughy and moist). Ordered some soft drinks and they arrived flat! No bubbles at all!

The service at Big John's is hit and miss as well. Some staff are very attentive whilst others just don't seem to care!

Overall a terrible experience which I will not repeat. As stated at the start of this review, the only reason to go is the huge servings, but why would anyone want a huge serving of bad overcooked food is beyone me!
