If you are wondering who Bill is he the famous chef Bill Granger who has produced many great cook books. Bills Woollahra is probably his most famous establishment and his expertise in cooking comes out in the food. You are seated in a big stone courtyard with shops on all sides under a sea of market umbrellas to keep the hot sun off you. It can sometimes be hard to find a table, but there are seats to enjoy a coffee while you wait. While the food here is amazing, it is a little bit more expensive than an average breakfast and the service I find is consistently a bit of a let down. If it wasnt for the nice setting and the taste you probably wouldnt bother. One of their specialities is the scrambled eggs which were very tasty, while my girlfriend had a Bircher Muesli which was also thoroughly enjoyed. If they lifted the service it would be a top pick.

They have a great reputation when it comes to breakfast in Sydney. I have enjoyed his fare at both Darlinghurst and Surry Hills a few years ago. So when I arrive at Bills Woollahra for brunch I have high expectations. We are seated in the buzzing courtyard, and enjoy the morning Summer sun. My friend and I wait for at least 10 minutes, and are still not served. Finally I am able to capture the attention of the flustered staff, who instead of being apologetic is actually dismissive and a bit rude. I ask for poached eggs, and am disappointed when we were told that they can and will ONLY do scrambled eggs. What kind of cafe, that specialises in breakfast, will not poach an egg? She takes our order and leaves in a hurry. After another significant wait, we are eventually brought our coffees. Not long after our meals finally arrive. By this stage we are starving. Unfortunately our meals to not live up to our expectations. My Bills signature corn-fritters are greasy and luke-warm. My friend is not very happy with her sloppy scrambled eggs. After paying the bill, which is expensive for breakfast we leave. They have just been having a 'bad day' but I will not come back here again.

My parents came to Sydney recently, and when looking for a spot to go out for breakfast, I knew there was no better spot that Bills in Woollahra. A hub for trendy weekend diners and local families, Bills provides and atmosphere thats as comfortable as it is classy.

The signature sunrise drink is a must-try, with its feel-good blend of fresh juice, yoghurt and berries. If youre a muesli person (which I am!), then youll love the fresh shredded apple and almond slices that accompany this delicious bircher option. While I couldnt go past the muesli, the boys at the table all went the scrambled eggs on toast with their own variety of extras. Upon tasting them, I could immediately see why Bill is so famous for his eggs and why he has the Sydney breakfast scene mastered.

While I couldnt fit in one of the delectable-looking homemade muffins that sit freshly baked on the counter, I definitely have them in mind for a future visit.

Consistently good food and service doesnt come without a price, though. Your breakfast bill might get a bit exxy if you order all the trimmings, but youll be full for the better part of the day, and youll definitely want to return.

Bills at Woollahra is a nice little laid back cafe tucked in the Queen's Court, uh, courtyard. We had lunch here and while we enjoyed the food, it was nothing to rave on about.

We ordered the wagyu beef burger and ocean trout nicoise. The food took awhile to be served, and when we were served, only the wagyu beef burger came. We waited for a long time and then asked someone about our fish. The waitress came back and said that they got our order confused with another table who had canceled their dish, and they brought another plate out in under 10 minutes. When we went to pay for our meal, they gave us a complimentary meal to make up for the confusion, which was nice.

Sit under the arches in this leafy courtyard and order the creamy organic scrambled eggs with roasted tomatoes and sea salt. That or Bill Granger’s other favourite – sweet corn fritters with crispy bacon (with a pre-shopping latte).
