One hat winner for 2009 SMH Good Food Awards.
Bistro CBD makes the most of its elevated first floor city location, with classic pillars and wide arched windows that give the restaurant an open, airy feel.
Bistro CBD has been a firm Sydney dining favourite as an inner city lunchtime venue. The corporate diner expects exceptional quality, great ambience, and great service all within the hour, and Bistro CBD delivers! For dinner it's a great start to an evening at the theatre, or a night out with good friends.
Open Monday to Friday - lunch and dinner
BYO Monday to Wednesday - dinner only
Quite a popular place so if you are looking for that quiet little hangout to have a drink and a chat with friends you may not like Bistrode CBD. Better suited to proviate corporate functions or lunches
Not the best choice for a Friday night dinner, as it was relatively quiet. The Setting is nice as are all Merivale premises, semi fine dining. The menu was older style, I had pigs head terrine with pigs ear, for a main wagyu steak with a side of marrow, all cooked perfectly. The service was good, very attentive but probably somewhere I'd go for a corporate lunch.
Average food, but the service is worse in my opinion. I booked a special beer-matching dinner which was advertised at $50 per head, only to be charged an extra $20 for the beer! Following the evening I received a voicemail from a senior staff member to call them back; when I did and left a message, they didn't call me back. I'll leave CBD Bistro off my dining list from now on.
