    We had a lovely night set up to celebrate the 30th Birthday of one of our lovely staff members with a group of 7 girls!
    The night stayed well the dips plentiful but had to go to the front to request more bread no where near enough!
    Meals came out in a reasonable time looking great, oh hang on. The Birthday girl is missing her meal. They missed ordering it with the kitchen at least they apologised and offered a free cocktail! She hates cocktails, she just wanted her dinner by the time that came we had all finished and she ate half and didn't want any more. Some of the group ordered dessert at least 25 minutes later I called over the waitress asking about our desserts? Next thing they are being delivered to the table. I think they had forgotten about them! Not good enough on a Tuesday night when the weren't even busy! I certainly on my own accord be rushing back.

    Thank you to the Blu staff member who was extremely rude to our office receptionist after we have left at least 4 unreturned messages over the past month to try to make a Christmas booking. Our emails from 24/10 onward have also been ignored. Good service? I don't think so...... Sorry Blu we will be celebrating at our work Christmas function elsewhere. We were really looking forward to the Mark Andrews show heard it is awesome but now won't bother even trying again.

    BLU is the best, not perfect, but pretty close.

    Always with Restaurants and Bars there are trade-offs. Sometimes, the best places get busy, because they're popular. Staff make mistakes, because they're human. As punters, we get to know the places and choose our favourites, and we forgive more readily the ones we know well for being late with a dish or getting a drink wrong. We also are quick to hit the review button when someone we don't know gets up our nose, and forget to get on and review the ones we DO know, for doing well time and time again.

    I eat and drink a lot at BLU now that misery guts has gone and Karen and her happy, pleasant and helpful crew have taken over. The food is better than the arty foody master-cheffy pretentious places, steaks softer, ingredients fresher. The staff make all the difference - the food was always good and Karen kept the kitchen staff and brought her own bar and table staff.

    Anywhere you choose to dine will disappoint you a little occasionally, if you got here enough. Especially when they are flat chat. BUT, at BLU it rarely happens, and they are great about it if they ever do anything not 100%, which is rarely ever.

    Great food is everywhere, but the PEOPLE make the difference.

      Our experience was OK with the previous owner
      However, the new owner lacks etiquette and hass only contacted
      previous clients few times in a very detached manner. Besides,
      the emails of people she sends are shown.
      Nothing special on the place: many locals live on the water.
      Yes, noisy it is but, this is only a problem for those living near by:
      not for the patrons as this is not a church
      They should have more variety in shows to get clients to come back:
      for us: sorry, many choices and unless a place is Great and good
      value for money - well, sorry.....discerning we are and, choose where
      we go as well as our $ - Competition creates EXCELLENCE...THE
      SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST....CHEERS

    I go to this restaurant at least once a fortnight and was very dismayed to read the other comments. I love BLU the atmosphere is fantastic and I have NEVER had a bad meal there. The service is friendly and you start to feel like one of the family on each visit. The owner Karen is vibrant and goes out of her way to make you feel special and welcomed. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience there. I have seen three different entertainers on my visits, Rob and Laurie are great and provide nice easy listening music, as is the Impersonator that does Elvis along with some other fun characters, Austin Powers was hilarious. Recently a new duo have started at BLU, The Prefects, they offer fantastic easy listening music that isn't overpowering and thoroughly enjoyable and I've even seen a little bit of dancing as the night goes on. This restaurant is a rare treat, the views are beautiful, the people friendly and happy, I love the whole experience, well worth a night out.

    I have to say iv been to this restaurant three times now and each time has been very different. First experience it was excellent, the service was friendly, the views were amazing and the food was great value!
    The second experience i have to say I was not impressed at all...it was over Christmas so i understand during this time staff are more under the pump and restaurants are exceptionally busy trying to keep everybody happy. However i had one staff member who waited on our table so badly that even the other 14 guests we had brought to this restaurant thought was most embarrassing on her behalf. After a lengthy wait of 1 and a half hours after our entree i politely asked the lady if our meals were far away as it was about 9pm and we still hadn't eaten mains i was answered "yes!, there is a steak in there you know!" I was surprised at the attitude i was shown as i felt an hour and a half wait was more than ample time to be given for a meal to be prepared... considering steak i would think would be the quickest of the lot! That same evening we asked for a dessert menu and i was presented with a scrap bit of paper listing what was available... which was not all that much! slightly unprofessional in my eyes. Then finally to conclude the wonderful evening we were sent a couple of coronas during the cause of the night to our table however not ordered by us. These two coronas managed to arrive on our bill at the end. Overall this night was a complete shamble and poorly executed, one i would not rate very highly at all!
    The third and most recent experience was over the weekend just gone and i would rate it OK the manager was very pleasant and helpful where possible. My meal took longer than the other two mains to come out which is always awkward because the other two meals were getting cold, however quickly rectified and apologies were given at the conclusion of the evening which was well noted.
    Overall I would return to this restaurant as it offers a good atmosphere i.e. entertainment and the food prices outside are pretty good for what you get. My advice though to the new owners is take note of what people say and some of these shocking comments/reviews people are writing as there is clear indication for room for improvement. The restaurant location is superb and the views are very good for this local area. Tighten up on your service and you will be trading for a very long time keeping return customers very pleased with your business!

    Rude service. Half the group get the meals half an hour before the others. Two hour wait from ordering to receiving meals. The demeanor of the staff was disgusting when questioned about problems. Over crowded and terrible service. Very noisy and loud.

    New Owners From Start 2010 went in only last week for lunch & she came introduced herself she was lovely she is Keeping Kitchen Staff But changed Floor Staff, were great service is much better & the atmosphere is better.

    Im not that impressed with the phone manner in which i was spoken too on Sat the 12.12.09 i had phoned Blu and enquired about takeaway pizza the person i spoke to was very plesant and replied "yes we do have takeaway" I said i would phone back shortly to place an order to which i tried to do within 10 min, differen't person i spoke to then did not care that i had just called and asked about takeaway their response was " Sorry we are not doing takeaway we are too busy"..."bye"...and hung up....
    Would have been good to have a frendly hello when they answered and a frendly tone of voice as they spoke to me..? I would have understood the busy situation in that sense or have even had they let me speak was able to wait for the take away as it was not required straight away.
    And thankyou true local for now i can get my opinion out there and even look elsewhere for a good meal with a friendly smile/voice.

      Hi Grant I understand where you coming from same thing happened to me the other week i called to ask about reservations & was spoken to quite rudely & i wanted to book elsewhere but my friends love the cheesecake there!!!! so we went. But Spoke to a Loveley Lady named Karon who told me she bought the business last month but the new owners aren't out till January. I think there mite be some misunderstandings going on there at the moment with 2 owners still there. And I Can Also Say the floor Staff Has Changed & they are much friendlier people & the atmosphere is more relaxed in there know with Karon walking around. She Came to the Table made sure we were ok were i mentioned it to her & she introduced herself & told me the story.
      She plans to let people know about the new management in January but still keeping the same kitchen staff so food will still be great.I live locally & know will be going to Blu again she was lovely & we had a great night.
