Blue Plate Bar and Grill

Directions

Serving American iconic cuisine

The menu is inspired by Classic American iconic dishes representing the regional and diverse cuisine of America, and brought to you by Leo V Brereton who opened the creole style South resturant in Neutral Bay.

Starters can be chosen from the Oyster Bar or include such favourites as the upstate New York Buffalo Wings or New England Chowder.

Main meals present the serious rib lover with slow cooked pork ribs in sticky bbq sauce, or you could choose Jambalaya, Ribeye Steak topped with blue cheese or pineapple salsa. What American restaurant would be complete without the genuine Chicago style deep pan pizza served with bubbling mozzarella cheese, Italian sausage and mushrooms.

Fully licensed with a great cocktail bar, this is one that the North Sydneysiders will be sure to try.

Its top notch Americano. The best buffalo wings you'll find in Oz (with some real blue cheese dressing to boot), huge portions of dry-rub ribs, and some pretty mean cocktails to wash it down with (go the Manhattan). Pretty good service, and decent vibe. Put some pulled pork on the menu and it would be my idea of perfection! Biggest let down is $12 for a Sierra Nevada... really capitalising on the American theme given its readily available in Oz now....

Desserts looked impressive but was too full to try.... which I guess means you get decent value for money.

To say that my visit to Blue Plate was disappointing would be an understatement. The food was ordinary and the service inconsistent. Our starters were the buffalo wings and seafood chowder. The wings were very spicy but tasty the chowder however tasted like someone had thrown some clams in a bowl of cream. The mains were the T-Bone steak and Jambalaya. Although the steak was tasty enough it looked like something you would get at your local RSL so massively overpriced and the jambalaya was intended to blow your head off with spice. Dessert was the winner on the night. The Apple Pie and Lemon Merange Pie both look appealing and tasted just as good. Overall for the price of the meal the food was a let down and the service was terrible.

Classic American food made with great ingredients and a different 'blue plate' special each day. Monday, Fried Chicken and Wednesday, Meatloaf both been winners. Good wine list and fabulous decor and a classy cocktail bar.
