Located defiantly outside of Sydney's Spanish quarter, this funky Argentinean/Spanish tapas bar has fans running Pamplona-style across the tracks to the more unique and quirky Surry Hills.

Start your evening with white anchovies and mushrooms in garlic, before moving on to lamb stuffed bullhorn pepper with pinenuts, currants and PX sauce, or slow cooked salmon with eggplant and potato sandwich, piquillo dressing and olive dust. Finish with warm chocolate mousse and fruit compote with earl grey tea custard.

    A hidden gem. I really like their tapas menu, such as Scallops Morcilla, braised cabbage (see member pic - mine), or the steamed pork belly.
    Everything is served to share, and the serving sizes are medium size so order up.
    Cool atmosphere, and funky inside.

    Really really good food, the vegetable dishes were very tasty - they did a pickled cauliflower, spinach and chickpea thing which was so good. They also have a good wine selection, some good South American reds... We had a really good Malbec which was reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff....

    You can't book a table so you need to turn up and hope for the best. It's always mobbed too. The food is exceptional. Everyone raves on about the kingfish fish fingers, but I have to say I actually preferred their other mains - the seared scallops were amazing - a taste sensation of well combined flavours. The pork belly is surprising since you assume it's going to be crispy - and it's not, but it's melt in your mouth delicious.

    I went with 5 others, and we had 10 dishes plus a bottle of red and a bottle of white (both bottles being in the high $60/low $70) and the bill came to $55 a person - I was very surprised.

    On a busy night it is quite noisy so don't go there if you expect to have a quiet, intimate conversation. But I highly recommend going if you are looking for an exceptional meal at a great price.

    Already an institution in Sydney, Bodega is one of those restaurants that gets it all right.
    The service is always great, the food is always interesting and oh so good and there is always a cool inner city Sydney kinda vibe going on there.

    If it is your first time to Bodega ( and even if it's not) here is some advice;
    1. Try the 'fish fingers' - awesome!
    2. Try the spiced calamari or prawns
    3. Make sure you try the' banana split'
    4. Make sure you try the stuffed peppers

    The wine list is filled with unusual South American wines and sherries and they all go brilliantly with the tapas style food.

    Be warned. It gets busy here at night and they don't take bookings but if you do have to wait, you can do so in the bar or down the road at the pub. It's worth it!

    You may have already heard this is the best tapas in Sydney. It's true. Every plate is delicious and despite the ultra-cool vibe the staff are helpful and friendly and pretension free. It's not cheap but is definitely worth it.

    The absolute BEST Spanish tapas bar in Sydney!!!! The food is fantastic, the people are great and the Cava goes with everything. But don't go there with large groups as it can be a nightmare to seat groups of more than 6:)

    I've never had tapas before, so this was a new experience for me. Myself and 2 friends arrived at about 6:30pm and the place was just starting to get busy. We joined another group on a long table, whom were later told off for reserving seats for people who arrived much later (since the restaurant is very small, you must have the whole group with you before you can get seated). The food was tasty but very different to what I've experienced! For a 20-something year old, I found the wine to be a little on the pricy side so I decided to 'spoil' the experience by having a juice instead. The dessert options were a tad limited, but surprisingly the 3 of us were filled up on 6 dishes (all females with smallish appetites) Staff are very friendly and all have a very funky style!

    This is the best tapas in Sydney. The food is such good quality and the wine menu is really well priced. The waiters are really knowledgeable and very friendly. But yes, very cosy restaurant, so I'd say groups of 4 max!
