This was not a cheap restaurant, but that's ok as the food was very good. However we were driving past Brown Sugar on Curlewis Street and noticed its now closed and the shop is completely empty! But their website still indicates they are open and at the same address.
Mmmm love it. Just thinking about this place excites me and has me planning my next visit back. The atmosphere is cosy and super cute. Waiters match a similar description, and are warm & friendly without being over the top. The menu starts with breakfast and finishes with mouth watering dishes such as favourites zucchini flowers, haloumi, mussels and the sandwiches even looked fab-o. The clientele are good looking locals and its BYO. What's not to like? I can highly recommend the breakfast, everything on the breaky menu are worth trying. Homemade hashbrowns are a local favourite, as is the pesto scrambled eggs and the side serve of avocado is fun. Half an avo, topped with S&P so simple, but so delicious. I cant say enough good things about this gem in Bondi.
What a way to start the day! Brown Sugar is fabulous. Their food, service and prices are top notch.
I went there for the first time on Saturday morning with a girlfriend and we absolutely loved it. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food was second to none. Given we both had the same thing I cant comment on much of the menu but everything we saw being bought out of the kitchen was presented immaculately and looked delicious! We had the green (pesto) eggs. Huge servings we actually didnt need to eat for the rest of the day!
They do breakfast lunch and dinner. I will most certainly be going back.
For what you get I believe that the cost of the meals is justified not that its incredibly expensive just slightly more than your average bacon and eggs.
Location is perfect too you are right in the heart of bondi without all the commotion.
Brown Sugar is the epitome of a cool Bondi restaurant for locals. It's off the beaten track a bit compared to the nastiness of Campbell Parade. Sometimes it's like being on a runway ( fashion not airport) as there are so many beautiful Bondi people in there. The atmosphere is great, the food is always memorable and the staff always happy to suggest food options. It's a shane this place isnt more unknown as it can be tough to get a table here sometimes. Brown Sugar aint cheap but it aint expensive either considering the quaility of the place. Highly recommended!
Every time i walk past this place it's always busy - so me and my boyfriend went in for dinner last Friday. I had the duck liver parfait - amazing. Jesse had scallops with chorizo sausage - equally good. The waiter told us the fish pie was a signature dish - I'm not really a fan of pie for dinner but this was DIVINE - served with a side of truffle mash. The atmosphere is good - excellent attention to our table by our waiter, the place was quite busy when we were there so better make a reservation. We will defiantly be going back - i think I've just stumbled upon a new favorite restaurant.
