With its white upholstered benches flanking the entrance, the bar that dominates the space and the long communal table towards the back of the room.  The pasta is a generous portion of orrechiette with veal and green olive ragout, the veal tender and falling apart, the olives adding a pleasant bite.

I have held two group functions at Botanic Cafe, both were an absolute hit with the guests. Cono and his friendly, funky staff do a fantastic job and I will definitely be back! The food is simple but very good.

  Hey Kiddo, how many people can they fit for event functions, do you know? I went here years ago and love it but a group function is a brilliant idea.

The level of service we received depended on the waiter that happened to be serving us. One was friendly, helpful and seemed happy to be at work, the other was unfriendly and seemed to find our presence an annoyance. The cafe was busy but you can be efficient and friendly. We were sitting at a long table with a banque seat - I don't think it's appropriate to serve food over the top of the banque seat rather than walking an extra couple of steps to actually be at the table.

The salmon carpaccio was excellent whilst the arancini were huge and subsequently overcooked. The asparagus entree was disappointing - nothing special there. The mains - the canelloni was cold in the middle and the pork cutlet was on the verge of being undercooked - we coped but others would have sent it back. The lamb was fine and the pastas at the table seemed to be ok.

Don't know that I will be rushing back.

My favourite for lunch. (great for dinner too)!

a great special for $25 with 2 courses and a glsass of wine.

Lovely surroundings, brilliant wine list, and the staff are efficient and knowledgeable.

The house made Gnocchi is some of the best I have had. If it has a rabbit ragu - you must order it!!
The baby crispy squid is delicious too.
