The Botany View is the definition of your local pub. Full of locals with a generally relaxed vibe.

At the back you'll find the Darley Street bistro, with seating upstairs in a more modern environment and a delicious, reasonably large menu for a small pub.

Its all about the Bistro. This food is without doubt some of the best in Sydney. It is as good as, if not better than many of the expensive restaurants at the Rocks or in Surrey Hills. This little Gem relies on WOM but it wont be long before its winning awards if it hasnt already. Full Marks to the Chefs! :)

Like the previous two reviewers, this pub is all about the Darley Street bistro. The pub itself is about as 1980s style, local pub vibe as you can get. Nothing wrong with that.

But at the back and up the stairs is a nicely refurbished section, including outdoor area. The food is great. I had gnocchi with chorizo, rocket and feta (with some type of tomato based sauce.) It was really good. My friends had the steak and both looked great. Considering the prices $12-25 for a steak -- my gnocchi was $16 -- the meals are really good value. If you're in the area i'd definitely give it a go.

the bistro upstairs at the back manages to plug the gap that exists in newtown for good quality, reasonably priced (non-thai) food. The kitchen has a good sized menu, and every dish I have tried has been excellent. recommended for a fail-safe meal

The Darley Street Bistro tucked at the back of this pub is a hidden gem. Fantastic food at pub prices but restaurant quality! To date this place has not dissapointed and I try something different everytime I go. Family friendly with highchairs and kids play box. A must to try in Newtown - yum

Since 1868 this hotel has kept its King Street post. With nine beers on tap, including Guinness, Stella Artois and Pure Blonde, this Newtown boozer is still going strong.
