Food was really bad and served cold after an 1 hour and 20 mins of waiting. Over priced for having no table service and the steak was tough. Security staff were rude to other patrons as we were next to a major supermarket chain Christmas party and they also complained on the attitude of the staff and security. I will never go back nor will I have another company function or customer lunch there either. Very upset with the level of service and I can see why they have lost there once great appeal.

Food was OK but seriously overpriced. Facilities in general quite nice but speed of service excessively slow. Biggest problem, no bill splitting. Our birthday party of 40 people had to hand over massive wads of cash to one person as each family left. I advise Brekky Creek management to check out the computer system of other hotels in the area - bill splitting is no problem there.

The bars and the restaurant are great. We usually eat at the restaurant first then go to one of the bars for a few cocktails. The ambiance is great at the Brekky Creek and it attracts people of all ages. I had a really great Sunday afternoon here and can't wait to go back with my friends.

Best steak in Brisbane (better than in my opinion closest rival "The Norman")
Hotel would receive all 5 stars except for my one & only complaint, the place does not stock not even one kind of vegetable for patrons who perhaps aren't keen on coldslaw, potato or chips! Everyone is conscious about there health these days it's time they "get with the times". For a $35 steak, I'm annoyed every time I eat there that I can't have some vegies with my expensive steak n wine!

An oldie but still a goody. Locals love the Brekky Creek, and this historic pub is certainly worth a visit for out-of-towners. Built in the 1890s, it is famous for its steaks – everything from a T-bone to a filet mignon with a choice of mushroom, pepper or chilli sauce. There is also a selection of seafood and other dishes. Multiple bars and the popular Spanish garden steakhouse will cover your eating and drinking desires. And it’s one of the few pubs still serving beer from wooden kegs.

Now in its 118th year, the Brekky Creek celebrates 40 years of grilling its famed steaks. Catering manager Melinda Venning has been at the watering hole for much of that time (21 years). Meat lovers should try the 1824 rib on the bone or the rump, and each steak comes with coleslaw, a potato with bacon topping, and mushroom, chilli, or pepper sauce. A wide range of wines is available, and non-beef eaters will find fish, chicken and vegetarian lasagne.

WHILE non-beef options are available, the historic Breakfast Creek Hotel's claim to fame is centred on its meat cabinet.

Built in 1889 by former Brisbane mayor William MacNaughton Galloway, and opened in 1890, it has become a Queensland icon.

Originally built in French Renaissance style, it has been given many makeovers over the years, with its most recent in 2003.

The result is a stylish mixture of old and new, with the classic old sandstone building juxtaposed with a sleek, modern beer garden and contemporary bars.

What's kept the Brekky Creek Hotel going so strong for so long is its steak.

From rib fillet to rump, every cut in the meat cabinet is the most gorgeous crimson colour, incredibly fresh and super-lean. It gets carnivores salivating, and might even be enough to turn vegetarians to the other side.

My guest went with the classic eye fillet with mushroom sauce and the pub's famous coleslaw and idaho potato. I chose the wagyu striploin with pepper sauce, coleslaw and idaho potato.

We started, however, with half-a-dozen oysters kilpatrick.

    The oysters...
