What a weird but excellent Gem! A friend suggested this place and I found out how cool it is today. I usually go to markets and garage sales for things I need (and don't need :~P ) but my paper making blender failed me and I really wanted to do a project over the holidays. I mistakenly went to the shop next door first but a phone call sent me in the right direction. This one is tiny and strange but packed full of goodness. There were 2 other people before me which the cute blond guy served efficiently, knew their names and made them laugh. I've never done a loan before but the process looks easy enough and I know if I need it that this would be the place, but back to today. Cutie's name turned out to be Martin who knew what I was talking about almost instantly and had 2 I could choose from and even preempted my concerns. I chose the more industrial looking one and he gave me a discount AND some advice on deckle handling which was oddly correct. Jeez, what a difference between dark and light, its like a second hand savant genius trapped in a such a nice package, make a girl want to turn back lol. The boss came out and smiled (John) talked for a while, then let his little son in who demanded an iPhone 4! OK, more on the shop. There is another guy who does the eBay side of things that in hindsight seems obvious for a shop that deals in second hand goods. As I was leaving I noticed the front window was packed with sunglasses which I'll have to go back for when sumer finally gets here. The place needs a revamp there's no mistake but the vibe (your honor) is top notch! Happy, friendly, music, honest and cheap (the vitamix turned out to be $500 retail for $60! What a sweet deal) Its now on my permanent regular spots to visit every week or so. My final advice is to ignore the dust bunnies in the corners and go score a bargain.

Small, gritty, mostly honest, personally owned 'Hock' shop that looks like a set in a Tarantino movie. Neville Davidson is the elderly gentleman who owns the store and really should run an antiquarian bookshop. Talk to him about politics or old movies and his eyes light up, but anything to do with the shop and Martin is the guy to talk to. Pawnshops run on a different system to 'normal' shops in that most of the goods have been pre-owned, they might be new looking in a box like an ex gift, all the way to a rusty 50y.o. sledge hammer, but they are all second hand. Think of Cash Converters but more personal and better prices for both trade in and selling. I have been particularly impressed with martin's knowledge of just about anything. What made me like him more was his honesty in a business like way, he showed me what he bought the ring I wanted for and admitted that he wanted to make money. Remember to haggle and you can get amazinbargains out of them. Attilla and Eddy also work there
