beautiful place to take the kids for a picnic. The view is amazing.

What better place in Brisbane to take out of town relatives or visitors. From the top you can see it all, down to the islands and the bay and west past Ipswich. The drive up the mountain (not quite tall enough to technically be a mountain) is pleasant - just watch your speed as it's only 50 kph. Once at the top stop off at the Cafe for a top notch lunch or ice cream cone or for something a bit more special, drop into the restaurant for a spectacular selection, including a divine salmon on mash main.

Just 10 minutes from the CBD, Mt Coot-tha is a must-visit to take in the lay of the land from the lookout’s observation deck. Locals love the panorama – “I can see my house from here” – while visitors are impressed by their vantage point of landmarks as far away as Moreton Bay and just how winding the river really is. It’s an impressive sight during the day and a glittering spectacle at night. The café and restaurant are good, too.
