You cannot go to Carlton without going to Brunetti's.This is THE place to go for a great coffee and sweet treat. The difficulty will be in deciding which sweet to get or trying to limit yourself to just one, or even two. There is so much to choose from - traditional Italian sweets to the more popular known lemon meringue and everything in between. They have a nice long display of everything on offer so take your time in choosing and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It can get rather busy so sometimes it is a struggle to get a seat & table, but there is both indoor and outdoor seating available, or if all else fails, just get something to take away. The prices are a little more expensive, but I'm willing to pay for such deliciousness! -

This restaurant is truly a "pioneer" of the Carlton Scene. A beautiful established mix of everything specialising in fine italian breads, the BEST icecream in town, a range of beautiful italian treats, scrumptious delicacies, cafe & bar areas, sit down eating - you name it this restaurant has it ALL ! I've been coming here for over 20 years. And why ? I come here because I know I receive "quality" each and every time. This place is an italian institution. Forget Masterchef, etc etc ..... you want quality ? You want authenticity? Go to Brunettis and see for yourself. The customers don't lie ! The excessive loyalty that this restaurant has for its customers is just humbling. They have so many repeat customers that it is an education just to be there and soak in the atmosphere and the tradition that has built up to form an ITALIAN DYNASTY of pure authentic QUALTY dining. And out of these experiences what do I enjoy most from their vast array of dishes ? Why .... its the classic bananna icecream in a waffle cone ! Give it a try ! 10/10 .... if I can't fault it then who can ? Quality at its best ! "Pure" italian food "made by italians". -
Brunetti is an food lover's dream come true! Think cakes, pastries, tarts and chocolates as far as the eye can see! Amazing breads, an assortment of foccacias, homemade pizzas; Italian gelato and great coffee! They also do a great breakfast. If you're visiting Melbourne, this is definitely a destination that should be at the top of your list. You only have to walk past to see just how incredibly popular they are. Aside from offering an assortment of Italian delicacies, Brunetti also specialise in cake orders and can tailor their designs to best suit your special occasion. I've ordered a number of cakes fro them in the past and have always been completely blown away with the taste and presentation - not to mention the reasonable price. A family friendly atmosphere with a truly cosmopolitan flavour! -

I have been going to Brunetti's since I was a little girl. It was always the first place my dad would take me when holidaying in Melbourne. Now that I live here I frequent it myself and I'm never disappointed. Their sweets are divine, the savories are filling and everything is just luxe. It's always busy but you get served very quickly and it's lovely to just sit with a pistachio mignion and a blood orange granita and watch the world go by. -

Frequented by uni students and the locals/visitors, this venue is not only popular for its sensational coffee, but also for their extensive array of cakes. Their strawberry cheesecake is to die for, downed down with a strong latte (my choice!). This is a perfect place to have coffee/cake after dinner or watching a movie at The Nova Cinema. Brunetti's reminds me of my uni days... -
This is an absolutely gorgeous cafe stop! the cakes there are to DIE for and if you go there, i reccomend coffee and cake, they have lots of little cakes and slices, all mini, they also have gelati, hot food including traditional Italian food, like lasagna, fresh pizza and lots lots more, really good location, just off the shopping strip on lygon street! definetly one to try!

This is one of my favourite cafes in Carlton. The cakes are to die for. The only drawback with Brunettis is the difficulty of trying to find a seat, especially at the weekend!

Start your day at this Roman pasticceria with an authentic espresso or a cioccolato caldo con panna (hot chocolate using a secret family recipe). For a more substantial meal, enjoy eggs Florentine or a freshly baked Danish.
