    My recent experience at Cafe 88 made me decide never to go there again. I had ordered Eggs Canterbury ('poached eggs with smoked salmon & avocado on sourdough'). Much to my utter discontent, the eggs I got resembled more like something that came out of a McDonald's-type egg steaming machine - hard-boiled, dry and taking on the shape of what ever machine with which was used to cook it. My friend's Eggs Benedict was no better, either. With such poorly 'poached' eggs, one would expect them to salvage the dish with lashings of hollandaise sauce. On the contrary, the amount of hollandaise on the dish wasn't even enough to hide their shameless atttempt at poaching eggs. The loud and constantly running juice machine at the front counter didn't make things any better. To give them some credit however, the lady running the place could at least make cafe latte.
