The other reviewer may have had an average experience at the *one* time they visited, however I can state with the benefit of WEEKLY experience, eating and drinking at Di Mati that it is consistently good and a damn sight better than any other cafe in Cleveland. I continue to regularly go there and so should all of you.
As a traveler I often enjoy fine food, and rich coffee but my visit to Cafe Di Mati was rather disappointing. The coffee was terrible, tasting as if it had been watered down a few hours prior to my visit and reheated. The beans were obviously not freshly ground but unfortunately the coffee was not the worst of my short stop there.
After my disappointing experience with the coffee (a deja vu with a supermarket brand instant coffee) I ordered my food. The food was not worth the wait (nearly twenty minutes in duration). And even the cutlery was disappointing, tasting of a cheap washing-up liquid (maybe lemon scented). I quickly found myself out the door (after paying the ridiculously high prices) and then remembered once I had tasted a better meal at a grimy New York hot dog stand.
I would rate it no stars at all, but that is not available.
