We booked a pamper package with a 4pm checkout - was terrific. The rooms aren't amazing and if you want the better views book a corner room. The breakfast buffet was awesome but expect to queue from 10 to 20 minutes to be seated if you arrive after 10am.
The cocktail lounge on the 36th floor had a function and so the best views were off limits to the public.
On the whole a good hotel experience but not amazing for 5 star.

It was a truly amazing experience staying at the Shangri La hotel in Sydney, time was around Christmas 2006 and was thought to be the best time to travel around the country since most people would stay home for Christmas. I checked into a suite and with the package I was able to use the business lounge for whatever reason, breakfast, lunch and dinner. This hotel overlooks the Sydney habour bridge and is one of those must stay places when in Sydney.

Hit the 41st floor of the hotel, take a look at the drinks menu and sip away with the beautiful sights of the harbour.
