Traditional Greek cuisine - as good as it gets

This upscale dining room serves quality traditional Greek cuisine. Making an excellent starter, pita bread is served with your choice of dip, like tzatziki, taramasalata or skordalia. Meze, such as grilled haloumi cheese and dolmades with rice, and yemista - stuffed capsicum - appear on the menu, and Mykonos doesn't skimp on main courses either. Offerings vary but may include marinated char-grilled lamb cutlets or a whole fish with lemon and herbs. There is also an assortment of platters for those with a hearty appetite. Owners Sammy and Loula Klementou are experienced restaurateur's and with Loula's mum, Toula, in the kitchen and Loula making fresh Greek sweets daily, you cannot get any better.

THERE'S a unique mix of Greek vibe and laid-back attitude in North Adelaide.

Strolling down North Adelaide's O'Connell St artery a few nights back, one of those warm and sultry evenings before the rain came in, you could have been forgiven for drifting away into a Greek Island kind of reverie.
The bouzouki music out on the expansive pavement section of Cafe Mykonos was turned up to a volume to drown out the traffic noise - and not a bad thing, either.
Young diners at a table were having a hoot. At a window spot, a high-profile footballer looked like he was on a first date, shy with the blonde but not when facing up to a huge plate of lamb.
In a darker corner, a few Mediterranean-looking gents were smoking, mobile-phoning, creating an authentic, old-bloke kind of pastiche to the place.
It was my second visit to the cafe, which is the new venture of veteran restaurateur Sammy Klementou and wife Loula, who departed their popular Sammy's on the Marina at Holdfast Shores mid-2007, headed to Perth and more hospitality business, ...
