For me to go out of my way to do this is a big thing...... I went to Cafe Va Bene last night with a group of friends for a birthday. Everyone ordered their drinks and food and we sat and waited. I ordered the porterhouse steak medium to rare and when it came out it was more like medium to well done, inside it was hardly pink , definitely no red juices oozing out as medium rare should be. I didnt want to kick up a fuss but i thought Ive paid $30 for a piece of steak the size of my palm and it was dry. So i told the staff and they brought it back to the kitchen. What transpired from there I have never heard of let alone experienced. The staff returned with the same steak and said "Sorry Sir, but the kitchen is closed and they said its only a fraction over " placed the dish back in front of me and walked away! I was stunned, didnt want to cause any trouble, i decided to take one more slice out of it hoping it would be a bit more 'rarer' in the middle.... it wasnt. I gathered enough courage to confront the staff " Its medium rare, dont think u r getting a refund!" I felt like i was at a nightclub! I couldnt believe what they said to me. I asked them why are you acting this way and to calm down. They said "you calm down!" The management then walked over took $30 out of the till and handed it to me and said they didnt want any trouble ,"just Go". Going back to my table in shock i told the rest of the group (16) , minutes later the staff were made by the management to came over and apologise and offered a pizza as an appology. i stood up shook their hand told them it was really bad what they had done and declined their offer. Over the years i have recommended many people to dine at Va Bene ........never again ! The worst dining experience by far

Great cakes OMG a lovely choice and a great atmosphere for coffee and cathc up with friends good parking and friendly staff and quick. one of my faves too..
