Cafe Zappa, named in honour of Fank Zappa, is all about good Italian cooking. A local institution, Cafe Zappa may be a small eatery but its dishes are packed with flavour. Be it take-away or eat in, all meals tastes just like mama's makes it, but it is pappa's cooking that brings in the crowds. Thursday is gnocchi-day where the owner's dad makes home made gnocchi for the lunchtime masses. Cafe Zappa is also well known for their coffee and their fantastic staff.

One of the best lattes in South Melbourne, if not the best. Superb location adjacent to the town hall. Unique decor. Changing and varied menu. Recommend the tiramisu when available. Always friendly and great value. Only downside is that it's closed on Sundays!
