Reviews of Campos Coffee

Although a staff was incredibly rude it won't stop me from dropping by for a fine quality coffee in both bean/drink form. Great potential for this place for its location and airy. Hopefully the customer service will improve and can easily give this place 4/4.5 stars!

Always love Campos coffee! A great place to get and enjoy a well-done coffee.

Just like the Campos in Newtown this place does fabulous coffee. Not toasted sandwiches or doughnuts, but 'Special' coffees. Just been there and it serves the same limited pastries as the Newtown cafe. Great! You go there for the coffee not the food. If you don't appreciate how much better the coffee tastes here then you don't appreciate coffee.
Great warehouse surroundings, happy, polite staff and great coffee. Did I mention how good the coffee was again? The original Campos in Newtown has been around for 8 years and I have frequently stood in a long line just for their coffee. Hopefully this place will be the same, but because they have a lot more space, thankfully without the queues.
People like the other reviewer should stick with Gloria Jeans or the local cafe if they want more food but crap coffee. This is a place that is for those who truly appreciate a well made and well sourced coffee. I hope they keep the same limited great tasting pastries so people like the other reviewer stay away. I for one will be going back.

I could not recommend this cafe if they paid me to.
Right now, I don't even know where to begin with what's wrong with this place.
We'll go the old fashioned point form:
Food - there isn't any. A few over-priced and undersized pastries. Other than that, they only sell coffee. "Special" coffee...
Service - I love freindly, polite and kind people serving me from the other side of the counter. I don't think I am alone in having this expectation from a cafe. If you don't like people, that's fine - Don't work behind a counter. This is a cafe that doesn't serve any food. Which is fine I suppose because they advertise themselves as "Specialty Coffee Professionals" however, try asking a few questions about the different types of coffee they have on offer. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day but, upon me asking about their coffees, I was given the type of facial expression that could only be interpretted as "We sell coffee. Just pick a coffee and then go away". I think the girl read my facial expression of disgust and pointed the menu out to me.
Atmosphere - This is the only part of the experience that earned them some points. It is a lovely place with a nice, simple modern feel.

I am an Alexandria local and have been for the last 15 years. I've seen multitudes of places that come and go. The ones that survive are the ones who cater to the diverse community that reside in the 2015 postcode.
Here are some things you can do - outdoor tables and chairs (they have 2 benches and 2 milk crates at the moment...)
Start serving food and beverages other than coffee - everyone likes to check out the new coffee shop but soon the novelty wears off and we all go back to our nespresso machines.
Smile and be polite when you serve people - the customer should never feel like they're inconveniencing you. Which is exactly how I felt upon asking if they served any food.

I won't return to this establishment unless they're still open in 12 months because if they've survived that long, maybe it means they improved since I wrote this? We'll see...

If you want food and pastries then stick to the crap coffee at another cafe. I'm also a local for many years and I've just been to this Campos and have nothing but good things to say. It's just the same as the Campos in Newtown, except there's lots more room. Yes, the same limited pastries but just like the Newtown Campos, you go there to drink the fabulous coffees. You're missing the point if you're going there for toasted sandwiches, which it sounds like you are. Campos in Newtown has been up and running for over 8 years and people stand in line to get in. It's been voted best coffee in Sydney over the years. That's why it's a 'Special Coffee Service', not a 'Special food service'. Stick to the place that serves you toasted sandwiches and ordinary coffee. It sounds like you don't appreciate what brings real coffee lovers flocking to Campos anyway.

Wow - I can't believe my review has stirred people up. Been over a year now since I wrote this.
Ok, look people, I can totally understand that they are the coffee specialists. They're coffee is great and being coffee specialists, they don't need to serve food. However, I think the main point I wanted to make is that the service we received was not up to standard and that I'd rather drink sh*t home made coffee than pay someone for a good coffee with a side of attitude.

Anyway, it has been nearly (or more?) a year since I've been there so don't let my review deter anyone from going. Maybe I got the counterhands on a bad day and to be fair (with regards to some of my original criticism) the cafe was fairly new at the time which could be why there weren't proper outdoor seating.
Anywho TrueLocal readers - go to Campos Coffee and experience it for yourself and write a review. Purpose of this site is to review places based on your experience and not attack other reviewers.
