I have purchased a few items from cell at good prices, however their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. It is very hard to get served once in the shop, and once you manage to grab someone it seems like they would much rather be somewhere else. Its the same if they are busy or dead quiet. The last dealing i had I asked them to price match another sydney bike shop, they wouldn't do it and the person I dealt with was rude, bordering on aggressive. Won't be back.
Cell Bikes was recommended to me by my neighbour when I moved to the area. They have been great, very knowledgeable staff, won't baffle you with b/s, just give you honest facts so you can make an informed choice about what you want to buy.
I went to Cell Bikes this morning to get my gear serviced. I also took the chance to get my rear rack and saddle adjusted.
The saddle clip had to be replaced to accommodate my rear rack's arms and I was told that it would cost me about $20.
I was told to wait till about lunch time and I was pleasantly surprised that Tim, the bicycle mechanic, sent me a text to my mobile phone a few minutes before 12 noon to request me to collect my bicycle.
When the final bill came, it was $30 with the gear servicing and the adjustments above. I pointed to the new clip and asked if they forgot to include it in the bill and they said it is all included.
I have ordered twice from their web site and the shipping has been really fast and the prices are very competitive.
Overall, I had a very good experience with this shop and I would recommend it to my friends and family.
My first encounter with Cell Bikes was over the phone, when I rang up to enquire about a bike I had seen advertised. I had a very pleasant coversation and a bike was put aside for me to view later that week. When I went to the shop, I waited a long time before I was able to get anyones attention, to then be told there was none left of the particular bike. I said that one had been put aside for me, I was told again that there was none left. I asked politely if he could please have a look out the back. Begrudgingly he did so and came back 10mins later with the bike. I sat on it, asked a couple of questions which were answered monosyllabically. Despite this poor service, I wanted the bike, so I put it on lay by. When I went back to pick up the bike a couple of weeks later, the service was marginally better, but certainly no niceties. I will be taking the bike for its free first service in the New Year and will see if theres any improvement in the customer service. Aside from the pleasant initial phone call and the beautiful bike, the experience has been sour.
Hi Tabasco, sorry to hear that you waited a long time. What day and time did you come in? Please note that weekends tend to be very busy here. We're always happy to give more personal service during the weekday when things aren't as crazy and hectic on the weekend. Also, apologies on what happened to you regarding the bike. We hope we can can have the opportunity to change your mind about us. Stop by on a weekday and let us know about your experience. Thanks for your constructive criticism. CELL Bikes-Mark
