The three separate buildings house a total of 155 beds, 27 rooms and seven restored jail cells (including a genuine padded cell). Complementing the rooms is secure personal storage, king single beds and hotel-style security card entry – as safe as a police station!Bundaberg is known as a great stop-over location for backpackers seeking work. Cellblock leads the way with an established work program, which provides up to 100 jobs every day on local farms. Cellblock even provides free transport to and from work, so earning money while staying at Cellblock couldn't be easier.    While the sometimes haunting past of this 125 year old police station still echoes through the corridors and jail cells, the facilities of Cellblock have earned the reputation of being a 'five star backpacker resort'.

    Do not stay here! Not a very nice place to stay, the rooms are dirty and dont get cleaned properly and the staff are unfriendly especially the management.
    From the rent to having to pay to get your bedsheets changed, theres deposits for everything and you will have to pay transport fees if working, you wont save any money if you stay here.

    Worst hostel you could possible stay in!!! But you if are gonna stay in this place here is some advice:

    Dont expect much, go with low expectations as the rooms rarely get cleaned by staff, you have to pay to change your own bed clothes if you get caught washing your own you will be thrown out!! The Kitchens are not well cleaned, your food will also get stolen the rent is overpriced...This place is designed to take every penny you have if you wanna save dont stay here!!

    You have to pay $20 deposit for dishes and another $50 for transport.. The owner will try con you and keep this if he does go to the local police station as this will sh$t the coward up an he gives it right back ;) he always kicks people out even though there rent has already been paid again go to the police and he will give it back!

    Pay you transport fee IN CASH.. if not you will be kicked out or will lose your job..Also the work comes and goes quick as the owner fights with most farmers and is so locked that he ruins the work list all the time! If he likes you, you get a job.. If youre a female its a lot easier to get work keeping in mind that the owner gets to call you any time he likes!! Be carful when getting into his transport vehicles as none of them are road worthy a lot of them break down or are in accidents your are not insured in these cars either!

    The bar which is located in the hostel it good for some cheap drinks and happy hour however if your a female you will be dragged up to the bar and head put under the taps as a show for the owner and his mates you will also be thrown into the pool for his amusement whenever he feels like it, pouring shots in you month but if you get naked he might pay you!! If you drink anywhere else he will kick you out..

    My advice is dont stay here and if you do stand up for yourself dont let them rob you as he is already in debt with his hostel and he cant afforded to keep it open he will take anything from you. He is a coward and gets his staff to do his dirty work. he hides form them in his office.. This is where he hides when his not at the bar drinking other than that you wont find him anywhere else! If he cons you report him if he shouts at you shout back everything he does is not good so hold that against him..
